The only decent asian remake i've seen is The Departed, which is a remake of Infernal Affairs, and that was because they didn't try and lower the certificate to get it mass appeal

Oldboy definately doesn't need a remake, there's no way Spielberg can pull this one off, it was the asian factor that made it what it was

Eden Lake.
:o
A couple go for a weekend break but have their romantic holiday spoiled by a bunch of 10-14 year old chavs. An escalation of events, it all starts off harmlessly enough but ends up as one of the most shocking English films I've ever seen.
Utterly compelling and unbelievably brutal.

I reiterate: :o

Saw it last night - needed to watch Casino Royals less than 6 months before seeing this one.

Basically, the end sets up the sequel, as Bond still hasn't broken the Quantum organisation that Vesper Lynn was involved in. The bloke was her former boyfriend.

And for those who love Hollywood remakes: Steven Speilberg does Oldboy with Will Smith!

arghhhhhhhhh :x :x :x i hate will smith he is one of the worse actors in the world and Speilberg just does rubbish aswell and the fact i have yet to see a remake of an asian film that was anything other than tripe mean this has ruined my day if it is true

I just heard this earlier today too and was appalled. Hollywood has become so lazy that all they do now is wait for some Asian movie to have a bit of success then they remake it. This is almost as pointless and stupid as the projected Suspiria remake, or remakes of Dawn of the Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Omen, The RIng or Kairo. What next The Exorcist directed by Uwe Boll, Akira starring Adam Sandler, Zombie Flesheaters with Tom Cruise, Cannibal Holocaust with Matt Damon or the destruction of another masterpiece?

Watched I am Legend the other day, thought it was really good except the ending really.

Also watched Cloverfield last night. Amazing film, felt a bit short though.

The book by Richard Matheson is far better. I am shocked they the film industry spend money to rewrite the plot for a film. It's never better and mostly an excuse to write in lame jokes and 'romantic ' moments. The ending of the book isn't dissapointing and makes you think about the book in a whole new way.

It's basically Apocolypto with the violence taken out, and Apocolypto is an amazing film, unlike 10,000 BC

Apocalypto was great. No mammoths though. Or sabre tooth tigers. Or Dino-turkeys. But despite all that 10,000 BC just somehow wasn't very thrilling :? reminded me of Pathfinder sort of, but of course no film could ever touch upon how truly awful Pathfinder was.
