Finally got round to watching Dark City
Really really enjoyed it, the set was fantastic and the story was great too. A lot of people draw comparisons between this and The Matrix and it's somewhat obvious why. I heard that The Matrix actually took some of the set due to budget constraints. Anywho, Richard O'Brien was an amazing choice to play Mr Hand, he acted the role really well. I think it's probably one of the best films i've seen, i plan on buying it on DVD very soon. Definitely give this film a solid 9/10

Tomorrow i'm going to watch Franklyn, it sounds interesting

Dark City is still one of my top 20 films, absolutely brilliant.

I hope that if you liked that Franklyn will impress as well. Both are massively underatted, but also they are films that make you think & you can watch again & find something new almost every time.

Falcon Crest's (Go on. Hands up who remembers that) Robert Foxworth, Bernie (I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka!) Casey, a couple of screamy women, an old lady in a wheelchair and Barry (Galactica 1980, Diagnosis Murder) Van Dyke in a yellow t-shirt two sizes too small battle some toxic ants at a hotel undergoing redevelopment.

Made for TV in 1977, it's hardly a lost classic. No swearing, some bad editing, ropey animated effects showing the ant colony attacking the hotel and lots of close-ups of the arsey little arthropods.
However, despite it's age and obvious budget constraints it still manages to be a lot better than any of the recent films from The Asylum or SyFy, no small part due to the itch-inducing music score. Featuring the usual array of character stereotypes (the unscrupulous businessman, the unbelieving insurance man, the helpful scientist) it passed 90 minutes quite nicely, especially when Brian Dennehy (First Blood) turns up as the local Fire Chief.

Always from what I recall, whatever else is amongst the viewing there's room for dodgy creature features at any time.

It's low budget fantasy & sci-fi for me. Everone has there guilty pleasures (or disgust as the case may be).

Ooh, relevant to thread. I got some shelves put up yesterday, about 6/7 metres worth. Started putting all my DVDs up and ran out of room

Borrowed a Clint Eastwood boxset. I've watched like no westerns so it'll be a good introduction to an entire genre really.

The thing i find with westerns is that they can be slow as hell and full of characters just speaking crap. On the other hand they can be pretty damn good with some badass lines. It's the gamble with westerns

Just watched: Wonder Woman.
Another DC animated thing. Highly respectable although the "Men are all wicked. Oh hang on, no they're not. Who knew?" development is about as subtle as Johnny Vegas poledancing.
Clearly not marketted at a kiddie audience.
