Some interesting news on the Hellraiser remake from Clive Barker's Facebook

HOT FROM HELL! My friends,I have some news which may be of interest to you. A few weeks ago I had a very productive meeting with Bob Weinstein of Dimension Pictures,in the course of which I pitched a remake of the first HELLRAISER film. The idea of my coming back to the original film and telling the story with a fresh intensity-honoring the structure and the designs from the first incarnation but hopefully creating an even darker and richer film-was attractive to Dimension. Today I have officially been invited to write the script based upon that pitch. What can I tell you about it?Well, it will not be a film awash with CGI. I remain as passionate about the power of practical make-up effects as I was when I wrote and directed the first HELLRAISER. Of course the best make-up in the world loses force if not inhabited by a first-rate actor. I told the Dimension team that in my opinion there could never be a Pinhead without Doug Bradley, and much to my delight Bob Weinstein agreed. So once the papers are signed , I will open a Lemarchand Configuration, dip my quill in its contents and start writing . I promise that there will be nowhere on the Internet where the news of my progress will be more reliable than here ,because the only author of these reports will be Your Infernal Corespondent ,me. My very best wishes to you
all,my friends.
Clive.

I'm still not sure a remake is warranted, but I'd much rather see a remake WITH Clive, Doug and practical effects than one without.
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!

Very interesting. I wonder, taking into account the special effects technology and how de-sensitised people are to gore these days, will this turn out to be extremely gory? Or will they go in the other direction?

To be fair, even now I find the stuff in the original Hellraiser kinda brutal, and I'm pretty desensitised.

I think the use of cgi blood is quite comic booky where as physical effects have more real psychological effect and shock value.

CGI blood should be banned.

I think a Hellraiser remake is worth it, with everything being remade these days, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, and Hellraiser is one of those films that could benefit from a remake as the original is somewhat dated and cheesey now. Plus with all the crappy Hellraiser sequels that came out, something that's actually close to the original and the original storyline would be welcomed....rather than Pinhead in outer space or on the internet again!

The guy who did Martyrs was originally gonna be directed this, glad he pulled out and Clive's in charge now.

FRANKENHOOKER
A young inventor builds a radio controlled lawnmower that accidentally decapitates (and generally mulches) his pretty fiancee. Taking her head and combining it with bits and pieces from some exploded prostitutes, he sets about creating his perfect girlfriend.
Exactly what you'd expect from Frank (Basket Case, Brain Damage, Bad Biology) Henenlotter. Loads of tits, tons of cheap gore, and even more bad acting.
Daft as arseholes.
6/10

THE FLESH AND BLOOD SHOW
Grimy English horror film from 1972 about a killer stalking some actors in an old pier. Light on the blood but heavy on the flesh, this film has more lovely '70s boobs per minute than most softcore porn of the day.
The killer is obvious, the acting is dubious, and Robin Askwith is in it. But the boobs. Dear lord, all those lovely boobs.
7/10

Well, here we are. Has anyone been keeping up with Cinemassacre's Monster Madness this year or just me?

I watched To The Wonder this morning. I found it quite frustrating really. Visually it's stunning, and there's a lot of scenes that work really well. But there's only so much voice over (in 3 languages, 2 subbed) and lack of structure I can take before I start to find it difficult to follow. It does run awfully close the fine line between film, and 1hr 50min montage scene. Now I know films don't have to spoon feed you, and there's is a certain charm to it making you have to really think about what's going on, and also afterwards leaves you trying to piece it together until you think you have it, and then makes you want to see it again, as happened with me and the Tree of Life.
Like The Tree of Life I get the feeling it's very personal, and I imagine he's trying to make a grand statement about love and loss or something like that, but at the moment, I just don't think it quite comes across. But despite that, I still finished feeling that despite not quite getting it, I'd seen something special. There is a quality and beauty that sort of transcends a basic understanding of the plot (or lack therof).
Fisting is hard, my initial thought was 3, but I think it deserves better than that, and I think with a bit more thought, reading and re-viewing it could quite easily jump to a 4.

I only realized at day 20 and was so mad at myself that I didn't start at the beginning, but since youtube has become shit I don't use it, so i didn't see the promo for it.

Just got back from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.
A bit sillier in parts than the original, and not necessarily in the best way. I can see how some wouldn't enjoy it, but a lot of it appealed to my childish sense of humour.
Story was predictable as hell, but I can't fault it for that as it is in all respects a kids' movie.
Stupid fun.
