Re: movies
Some films do the artsy things the right way. Melancholia, does at least stick to a singular subject matter throughout & although ponderous it does work quite well.
Again a mood movie, but with a title like that your not really expecting a laugh a minute.
2001 is still the best of this style of film.

2001 Space Odyssey?
Ain't seen that in donkeys, probably the 80's was the last time.

Re: movies
For artsy I go for films like Hero and House Of Flying Daggers, the scenes in those films are just like watching arts of work, stunning

Re: movies
The Station Agent is a kin' great film, not full on arty but just enough to stop it being mainstream if you catch my drift.
The Visitor is another, Mr McCarthy don't half knock out a decent film.

Based on me watching Lock Stock more than Pulp Fiction because it's more fun I would say Guy Richie.
I see the bad moon arising.

LOL
There is though an argument that Tarantino is also crap however not as crap as Ritchie.
Re: movies
I have never sat through and enjoyed a Guy Richie film. However I've never not enjoyed a Tarantino movie.
Tarantino wins. Flawless victory.

Re: movies
Never, ever enjoyed a single Tarantino movie. Loved Lock, Stock so Guy Richie wins for me.
