Changing the location doesn't stop it being a remake.
Case and point: Disturbia. A blatant remake of Hitchcock's Rear Window.
Though Disturbia doesn't even have the common decency to credit its inspiration.

The original was released on Blu-Ray just before the remake hit cinemas. I bought the steelbook and it looks amazing. No updated effects or anything like that, just the exact same film, tidied up and remastered. That's all we needed. No remake bollocks or anything like that, just an awesome movie re-released to be enjoyed by the current generation, and again by its existing fans.
This is why I love Arrow Video so much, they release fully uncut editions of old movies, with the best possible quality audio and image, as well as never before seen special features and exclusive interviews. They give the fans what they want. More studios should take note.
