Can anyone recommend some decent horror films? Old or new - either works.

Don't know which films you've seen or what you class as 'new' but Martyrs, Inside, Rec., The Mist, Tucker & Dale Vs Evil (more of a comedy but funny as fuck), Cabin in the Woods, The Dead & Frontiers are the best from the last half dozen years or so. Can't think of anything really recent that has impressed me.

I've seen Rec. & Cabin in the Woods but I'll download the rest. Cheers!

I would recommend:

Hellraiser
Alien
The Thing (Action, although there's a lot of suspense in it)
Night Of The Living Dead
Dawn Of The Dead (1978)
The Fly (1986)
The Descent
Dog Soldiers (Action)
Cube
The Hitcher (1986)
From Dusk Til Dawn
Candyman
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!

Ooh, I didn't notice the 'old or new' bit of the request, for some reason I read it as new only. That's a good list (although I don't particularly rate From Dusk) . I'd add Day of the Dead, it's possibly my favourite of the Dead trilogy although I know that's not a common opinion. Plus

Zombie Flesh Eaters
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Evil Dead (obviously! and even more obviously the original!)
Videodrome
The Wicker Man (most definitely the original!)
An American Werewolf in London
Re-Animator

After Earth - Could have been so much better, but just fails to deliver anything beyond an interesting concept done badly. Another dud, from M. Night Shyamalan. 4/10.

Saw The World's End last night.
Weakest of the trilogy, but still a shitload of fun. For once I actually liked an Eddie Marsan character.
Top stuff.

Very much my thoughts.
To quote a post I made elsewhere "I found a lot of it almost quite touching, and almost tragic. And I was glad then managed to fit those more serious moments into the comedy without them seeming ham-fistedly wedged in."

I'm watching the early 90's Buffy movie right now. This is hilarious and amazing.
