Dreamworks are usually the ones that think outside the box. Some of my favourite animated films ever were from them sure. Shrek, Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda, Chicken Run and so on.

They made some utter garbage though.

Also, Brave, unsurprisingly won the best Animated Oscar this year. They don't call it "The Pixar Award" for nothing it seems. Brave wasn't even that good. Should have been Wreck-It Ralph, or Paranorman. Heard excellent things about that.
If I like it, It's probably awful.

I haven't seen Silver Linings Playbook, but I don't think Jennifer Lawrence's performance looks anything special from the trailer.. so I wonder if there's any truth in the idea that if a hotly-tipped actor doesn't win one year, the Academy 'makes up for it' a couple of years later. Her performance in Winter's Bone was much more compelling, I think.

Also I want to see Seth McFarlene hosting the show in full. Because some of his jokes sounded fucking hilarious.

And the reactions to his "We Saw Your Boobs" song are even funnier.

'We Saw Your Boobs' was hilarious.

I'm just glad he had the balls to speak out about Chris Brown.

I thought it was. I'll be honest I was still surprised she won it, as I didn't think it was quite Oscar worthy. But she was for me completely convincing as the character, she really makes you feel for her, and even fall in love with her (or as much as you can a screen character you only see for like an hour or so of a film). There's just something quite compelling about her as Tiffany, and I can't put my finger on what it is exactly.

Apparently people took it as "oh no, Seth is trying to make domestic abuse funny". I saw it as him making fun of chris brown for the sleezebag he is, personally.

His dig at Adele was amazing too.

I hate the fucking Oscars. It's an utter circlejerk from start to finish and if anyone dares try and do something edgy, they're condemned for it.

I hate Family Guy, but think that Seth MacFarlane can be very funny. Ted and last night were examples of this.

Ted is awful.

Just got back from watching Amour, first film since the Lion King where i've shed a tear, such an intense film it was so surreal when it finished no one talked when it finished just got their coats and left I mean you usually get the talk after the film, but for this complete silence

Ted isn't awful. But I do feel that either a funny film suffers at the hands of sentimentality and what is basically a love story, or vice versa. I liked it, but I didn't laugh out loud once, nor did the emotional scenes have the impact I feel they should.

I still think the best line of the night was also McFarlane's first: "Welcome to the 85th Academy Awards. And the quest to make Tommy Lee Jones laugh begins now".

Seth is hilarious, he hosts the comedy roasts, and he can take it aswell as give it too
