watched children of men today - pile of shit. 2/10 if I'm being generous...

it's one of those 'trying to be smart but also an action film' films and well, it fails...

That was far from the end. And you missed the best bit of the whole film.

Pans labyrinth. Was expecting it to be fulll of magic and monsters etc, given all the trailers, promotional press and websites featured this heavily. But its only a subplot that, works well with the main story.

Set in 1944,its based around a young child called ofelia who loves fairy tales, but, ofelia's father, Vidal, is obsessed with eliminating, quite ruthlessley, the remaining public resistance to Franco's regime, to escape this, ofelia uses her imagination to escape this reality and enter the labyrinth.

here she meets the faun, the guardian of the last portal who claims she is a princess from an old magical kingdom long forgotten, and that she must prove her soul has not become mortal by performing three tasks, each more dangerous than the last one

both stories mix well and it turns out to be a cracking film, one to watch!!
If God is black then he is Samuel L Jackson

I went to see it thinking it was gonna be a fantasy too! But came away pretty impressed by it for a different reason that I though!
An upcoming fantasy that looks quite good is 'Bridge to Terabithia'

Saw Sex Traffic last night. Not exactly the most cheerful film and at 3.5 hours duration it needed to be shorter. But it was certainly powerful and a gripping storyline.
