I hope they decide to move on with a final Mummy film. The story needs to be put to rest properly.

Ron Pearlman, paper thin plot, and fight scenes?

I'll probably watch.

Saw Safe House and Rampart last night. Both were OK. Safe House was a bit generic. Rampart was well acted, but didn't really go anywhere and had an inconclusive ending.
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!

HOUSE OF WHIPCORD
(1974)

Image

It's the old, old story.

Boy meets girl.
Boy takes girl home to meet his mother.
Mother gets girl to strip naked and throws her in a prison cell.

Playing as much like sleazy '70s softcore porn as a horror film, House of Whipcord could realistically be the first "Torture Porn" movie, pre-dating Hostel by over thirty years. It may not be not as violent or bloody but the similarities are definitely there. Comparable in tone and structure, it even features the now virtually compulsory sequence where the mentally and physically exhausted victim, having escaped her incarceration, is rescued by a well-meaning nice guy who unwittingly takes her straight back to the place she just broke out of.

Lots of full frontal nudity, and the occasional whipping help this sleazy, dark, but also rather plotless film keep its momentum going. However, the ending is nice and violent and overall is far more memorable than many other films of its time.
Although that may also be down to some of the horrendous shirts on display.

7/10

Been watching the original Robocop's over the past few days, actually pretty good little films to be honest.

The first one is a fucking amazing film. The second one isn't so great.

Not watched the third one...and that seems to be the case for most people I know that own the trilogy boxed set. I'll have to finally dig it out sometime.

Safe House was like two hours of people shooting each other with not much of a plot, a really predictable twist and a waste of Liam Cunningham and Nora Arnezeder. then it ended and i'd spent half the film trying to work out what's weird about Ryan Reynolds's face. his eyes are really close together.

I'm a massive fan of Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, and action films, so this sounds right up my street

I love two of those three, but I insist on having some kind of plot with my action. the first three quarters were just semi-mindless shooting.

Sometimes I like to take my brain out and not have to think when it comes to films
