What was FD4 Like....i sooo wanna seee it..........

FD4 is a 15 . Just got back from seeing it, it was so bad it was almost good!
If you're like me, whos quite partial to the stupidity of the Final Destination films, and go to this expecting it to be stupid and bad then you'll find it a bit of fun. If not you probably shouldn't bother If I'd seen it in 2D I would have been pissed off, cos the deaths in the 3rd one were more comical (imo) but they obvioulsy tried to do some that looked better in 3D.
My only gripe really was the amazing lack of suspense and it being made even more obvious whats gonna happen - the only scary part was us walking through a dark empty leeds back to the train station imagining our own FD death senarios happening! but I guess if you've seen the first 3 you don't care anymore, you just wanna see crap actors die oh and the graphics were pretty shit!

Just watched 'Damned United', about Brian Clough's 44 day stint as manager of Leeds Utd. Micheal Sheen manages to do real life, well known characters without turning into a Rory Bremner style impersonator. Great Stuff.

Also good was The Lives Of Others, a German film about a playright put under surveilnace by the East German secret services in the early '80s. Near perfect film, and also funny were comments on IMDB where some retard reckons that modern Britain is worse than being under the Stasi!

Going to see action ma-, I mean, GI Joe tomorrow. Looks like transformers but replacing one brand of toys for another.

Also, saw the trailer for gamer when I saw bastards a while back, looks pretty damn good. I like the whole decadent-raver-cyberpunk-dystopia vibe they have going on. Plus I'm a nerd, so it's essential viewing really.

That is such a good idea it's not even funny.
Sadly it's not me arranging it (it's allways me who arranges the weekly cinemathon, so I made a concious decision to leave it until someone else offered) and I think there's a possibility of free tickets... But what the hell, it's shit blowing up, I had my arthouse moment last week.

HALLOWEEN 2

For those who don't know or have a short term memory problem, I am a massive Rob Zombie fanboy. If he shat on a plate and told me it was caviar I would believe him.
Until now.

Halloween 2 is a monumental disaster of a film. Not scary in any way, no story, a terrible script, some of the worst acting ever committed to celluloid and some of the strangest, and most sudden character changes since The Old Man in Robocop 2.
Sam Loomis, a gentle and caring psychiatrist is now a complete and utter dickhead, a moneygrabbing shitbag thoroughly unlikeable in any way at all.
Oh, and Rob, we all know you love A Clockwork Orange but did you really have to get Malcolm McDowell to repeat his "Nice and sparkling clear line" just to give you a fanboy hard-on?
Even the sheriff's daughter turned into a snotty nosed bitch and I didn't feel sorry for her at all.

All of the other characters were peripheral and uninteresting fodder for the straggly haired wrestler (he doesn't even look like The Shape any more) and Sheri Moon needs to go and take some acting lessons pretty fucking fast. I liked her in The Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses but she's absolutely hideous in this. During one scene in particular, I was cringing far more than any of the death scenes could get me to.

Now, the one major trait of Myers is that he has always been a silent killer, never speaking, never uttering even a slight noise. Well all that's changed now too. Now he snarls and grunts like a mad dog. Words fail me.

As for the rest, the lack of any of the original music score until the very end didn't make the movie feel like a Halloween film, the pointless crowbarring of Sheri Moon into the film just made it look like she nagged him into writing a part for her to keep her in work, it ends with a "twist" so fucking stupid (and already done before in this series and Friday the 13th anyway) it doesn't even bear thinking about and and half of the film is a fucking dream sequence anyway!

So, does it have any good points? Well, yes. The only killings which made any sense to the "story" were at the strip club where Myers' mother worked. That was a great scene, and darned brutal to boot. In fact, the kill scenes in general were all pretty hefty.
And that's about it.
It was violent.

But mainly shit.

THE FINAL DESTINATION - In 3D

Just been to see this today, and I quite enjoyed it. It's been a while since I last watched any of the FD films so I was a bit unsure as to how I'd take this one, but as soon as the shit hit the fan and the premonition started, the sadistic fucker inside came out and I found myself laughing hard at the innocent people (well, innocent people and a nazi) getting dismembered.
As a whole, the film's basic story could be written on a rice cake and leave room for another sequel. But the deaths are as fantastic and far-fetched as ever, made even more impressive in 3D.
I paid £8.60 to see it, and to be honest, I'd do it again. Though, I kept my glasses so if there is a next time, it'll be cheaper

EDIT: Bought Dead Snow on DVD today.. Will post thoughts when I've watched it, but it's looking good!

I got the original before I'd even heard there was a remake on the way
Got nothing to do with Tarantinos version, more emphasis of gunfights.

Also, saw GI JOE t'other day, it was god aweful. I particularly 'enjoyed' the fina bits where they detonate the polar ice cap and crush the under sea base. Yes, they crush the UNDERWATER sea base with ICE... ICE FLOATS
Also, the US president had an english accent.
And one memorable quote: 'Emotions have no basis in science'
And the french soldiers in the historic part at the start were wearing spanish helmets.

saw a few films recently:

DEAD SNOW
some goons staying in a log cabin accidently raise a legion of Nazi zombies! Everything you want a splatter-gore comedy to be - gorey, action packed and hiliariously funny! Beautiful white snow covered scenery that soon gets splattered red as the people battle the zombies with axes, chainsaws and snow mobiles. Can't recommend this enough

Absolutely brilliant Halloween-themed fantasy-horror anthology, dark and creepy, but wicked funny at the same time, this deserves to be a huge hit at the cinema, but Warner Bros are being cunts and burying it as a stright-to-DVD release, grrr.

NIGHT OF THE DEMONS
Adam Gierasch (Autopsy/Mother Of Tears), remakes an old classic, haven't seen the original so Idon't know how it compares, but this is certainly fun - a Halloween party at an old mansion goes very worng when a bunch demons trapped in the mansion start killing off the party goes and taking over their bodies - cus much blood and gore, demon sex, and moster mayhem, all to the accompanyment of a rather cool metal soundtrack. Loud, brash and lots of fun.

They've remade it again?! That's twice now (although one had a different title). I'll no doubt watch it but I reckon the original '88 version will still be the best.

An 80s hair metal band go to the mountains to shoot a video and stumble across a bunch of mutant inbreds out to kill them for some reason or other.
Lots of hilariously awful acting and dialogue ensue. Also very difficult to even take remotely seriously because of this man appearing in it.
