I had one of the most painfully pretentious conversations in the pub with a mate yesterday. I mean, we seem to be on the same page more or less but god help anyone else who was in earshot

Gave in and bought a dirt cheap copy of 50 Shades of Grey on Amazon. Let's see how horrific this actually is.

It's odd, all these women happy to go on bout reading this book, if a guy was to mention watching Anal Abyss 2 the night before he would be branded a pervert.

It's not as full of filth as people expect. It's just a soppy love story about a girl falling in love with a bloke with deep-seated control issues, and the occasional sex scene thrown in.

I tried reading it but it's dull and feels like it's aimed at young teenage girls (so far anyway, I'm not sure quite how dirty it gets). I'll probably finish it at some point but mreh. Definitely don't understand the hype.

Isn't it based on a twilight fan fiction?

Yup, and thanks to a bus driver chatting about it, Becky (a close female friend) is now reading it and pestering me about it :ugh:

The author has admitted that it's just all her mid-life crisis fantasies distilled into a novel. That should give you the information you need about the depth of this book.

I just cannot get into it. I think the female lead is a bit rubbish.

I like reading erotica, but there is plenty on the internet with better scenarios that do it for me more.

It sounds to me like one of those lame books that's going to give teenage girls like ideas and thoughts and stuff. Like expectations and shit. They're much better off just drinking cider in the park and having underage sex in my book

I dunno, the girl in it's a 21 year old virgin who meets some hunky businessman with a big penis that likes typing people up n' shit. It is just like a middle aged woman's lame fantasies (as Fjar said) but written in a style that makes it seem like it's aimed at younger people. I think the kind of teenage girls who'd like it would be the same type who like reading Cosmo and that shit, they probably already got their expectations from there anyway.

Yeah, the plot was a bit haphazard, but the spelunking scenes were magnificent.

Right, soon I will be going tent shopping. I'm currently looking at one of these two :

They're also selling igloo tents in Aldi for roughly the same price, but I have no idea what they're like.

So, which one seems better?
If I like it, It's probably awful.
