As far as sudden chop-and-changing of tastes (to be expected at that age) that's nothing compared to certain other people I've known...

To be fair I do shit like that all the time. For example, I listen to far more metal at winter, and more punk over summer.
This is why I rarely get too excited about BOA lineups, as I'm rarely listening to much metal at the time anyway.

Watching the Download 2014 roundup on Sky Arts 1, holy shit Avenged Sevenfold are a really fucking good live band!

The stuff that ended up on the music channels was absolutely diabolical, and I couldn't stand the vocalists style, but it's way better live.

Agreed. They also had the plus of headlining so they had a full stage show.

I'd say "trick the camera, then", but Aerosmith must have been absolutely abysmal if that's the case. Seriously, the footage on that program made them sound way worse than any pub band I've never heard.

For both bands I was a long, long way off (right at the back of the arena. Aerosmith however were pretty good, whereas Avenged came across as musically ok, but a bunch of arrogant, whining snivelly kids.
