So... may have just accidentally stumbled upon Paul Gregory's home address at work.

We've been given a grid reference for an accident location.
That exact location is a driveway for a house with text saying 'Bloodstock Festivals' hovering above it.

When I've looked into it, it's Paul's House, which is the registered address for Bloodstock/Amust4music.

What a small world.

Nothing on my car, going to run my dads plates through it though. That should uncover some gems.

Edit: if you go into driver rankings...that picture for worst drivers. Hahaha.

Haha!

I also like how the icon in the 'drivers ranking sections' is a cartoon vagina

Okay I'm in a spot o' bother.
I had a van out on hire from a company who are pretty shady.
Anyway, van came back with a scratch (just paintwork no dent) and they decided to take it to the most expensive place to get the quote (obviously) I mean just look at this shit - free prosecco for every customer!

The quote came back, ridiculous as expected. Basically 1k for a job Halfords could sort. Am I in my rights to dispute it and ask for them to get a quote from elsewhere?

Does the rental agreement state who would do any repairs ("approved suppliers" or some such), so you could be made aware before you took out the agreement?

Was there any damage insurance waiver offered when you got the van?

Speaking of insurance, what was your excess on the rental? (the waiver usually reduces this from, from example, £200 down to £50, for the price of £10, or something).

Nope no 'approved suppliers' stated.

Damage insurance was never offered to me, in fact it was crossed out on the form when I signed it. The van hire and money was all arranged through the band management so I assumed everything had been sorted, and just signed where I was asked to when I picked up the van.

Equally with the excess, they got me to sign a box stating that I was liable for all the excess and never mentioned that there was an alternative.
As I said, they are dodgy as hell, but as I was just collecting the van, I assumed all the finer details such as insurance had already been agreed.

Hamdir - you can reasonably request alternative quotes. I have no idea who would go about enforcing that though.

My opticians have mithered me to buy glasses for a couple of years siting: well because you drive you need a plan B. I have been wearing glasses around the house and because I only get the length and width of the lenses with 20/20 and the curviture around the sides, I have walked into a few things, totally misjudging them. Not sure I wish to 'get used to it' in a car, doing 90% of my miles on motorways.

I only know how it works when going through the insurance companies. But at work we have the option to intervene, get a vehicle inspected and authorise repairs at an approved garage in order to reduce period/cost.

Surely there's the option to do something similar. It might mean you doing a bit of the legwork. Maybe ask them for an engineers report/estimate to see where the money is going. I might be wrong but Im pretty sure any claimant has a duty to mitigate their loss. You could potentially argue that they aren't doing that, and ask that they find a more resonable price. I'd probably read up a bit on the claimants duty to mitigate first just to make sure I'm right.

I know it's not a perfect answer but it's a start.
