Hey I've started playing bass guitar again, I was wondering if there was a 'playing/tab thread' on the forum where musicians can discuss songs, techniques and stuff. I did a quick search but don't think I saw anything. I'm sure a lot of people on here play an instrument of some sort, was just wondering if anyone could point me to any good forums or good tab sites (preferably with a fair amount of metal tabs) to discuss and learn songs?

I'm struggling to put together some SQL statements I need since I haven't done it in a while. Specifically, in a university database, I'm asked to write a statement that returns a list of the modules (Module Id and Module Name) taught by a specified member of staff, say for this example Bob with the ID of '1'.
The relevant tables are:
Staff (staffId, staffName)
Module (moduleId, moduleName)
Teaches (staffId, moduleId)

There are three other questions too, but if I can understand this one I can probably do the others.

This is T-SQL syntax and use of JOINs (and the parameter ?) but if you swap out the parameter it might just work in MySQL too.

Something like that? If you need to search by staff name, you'll have to do something similar but include all 3 tables in the FROM clause. Haven't tested this; not sure if you always need to qualify the column names with the table name like I have, but you certainly do on the AND clause as it's a common column.

Use JOINs and it only matches up the rows in the FROM table first to the others, picks out what columns it needs, and finally filters by the WHERE.

Also in T-SQL you will need to fully qualify the table names in SELECT if there is ambiguity across tables.

Hmm, strange, I always thought the SQL Server Query Profiler showed a massive cartesian half way through the query when using WHERE.

I've always used JOINs though in my 7 years of using Databases (mostly SQL Server since 2000 version), as they are far more readable and more controllable than joining with WHEREs.
