Animal eyes reflect light. (dogs and cats anyway)

How come human eyes don't?

Pupils aren't open wide enough relative to the size of the eyeball.

would I be right in saying that red-eye in photos is the same effect?

Exactly same effect, but the eyes reflect in those conditions because there's far more light.

I've always used JOINs though in my 7 years of using Databases (mostly SQL Server since 2000 version), as they are far more readable and more controllable than joining with WHEREs.

Well as he's a university student, I'm guessing he's not using T-SQL or SQL server...

I had forgotten about red eye actually.

I was thinking more about animals at night. Get a fox in torchlight and their eyes damn near glow. Same with dogs and cats.

Aye probably not.

Readability using JOINs still stands though. WHERE is for filtering, joining tables is done in FROM.

What Jim said. It's conceptually clearer, and when you come to doing left joins you won't have to deal with the wacky syntax for doing that in a where clause, which tends to be different in each RDBMS.

Thinking about the countries with the worst debt problems - Greece, Italy - hot countries where they don't have to spend much money burning fuel to keep warm compared to us. I'd have thought that would have helped to keep their debts lower.

And another thing, how come fridge has a 'd' in it when refrigerator doesn't?

What I did: Came back with a bag of random crap and Burger King

The money they save on heating they spend on air conditioning. Only explanation.

Because fridge is a shortened name of a fridge company (cannot remember which, unfortunately my fridge knowledge is imcomplete) rather than the word refrigerator
