At least most places are giving you the decent bags again rather than the shite ones that fall to bits half way home.

Re: A free-for-all thread
Okay so say someone wanted to text a US mobile that is currently in the UK, from a UK mobile. What prefix would they need to use?
Upcoming Gigs
Aug 25|Bangor|PiL+Undertones+XSLF+Outcasts
Sept 7|B'fast|Rose Tattoo+Girlschool
Sept 15|Dub|Cruachan+Skyclad+Waylander
Sept 27|B'fast|RBOTN+Midnight Force
Oct 10|B'fast|Enslaved+High On Fire
Re: A free-for-all thread
I would imagine +1, same as if they were in the states. I don't remember having to change the prefix to text my brother when he was off gallivanting in for'n parts.

Yep +1. When my ex lived here putting a zero rather than +49 would not work on a UK number. I could probably ring her using my German sim card if she was in this country using only 0 but I never tried that.
I don't really know US numbers but I assume the prefix number replaces the first number, which I think in most EU countries is 0 but lord knows what it is in the US.

Re: A free-for-all thread
In the US it's just 1 (area code) (prefix) (number)
so 1 900 555 1234
They don't have a zero at the start of their area codes like we do, so there's no number to drop. Just fire a 1 at the start.

Really boring train ticket question: I have a ticket for tomorrow that says "London Terminals" on it. Does that mean I can tube it over from Victoria to Liverpool Street using that ticket? I don't want it to get eaten cuz i'll cry.

That usually means the destination. It will probably get swallowed when you leave Victoria overground.

No, it's the start point. The ticket is to Stansted airport.

Ah right - thing is the tube turnstiles are a different set from the national rail ones, so I'm willing to bet a "London Terminals" ticket can't be used on the tube.

If it's a ticket that has a cross on it, yes. So if you've got a Bristol to Stansted via London ticket then yes. If it's London Terminals to Stansted then I'm afraid not.

And if the former, make sure you put the "Bristol to Stansted" ticket through the tube barriers and not the "London Terminals to Stansted" barriers. If the latter, you'll have to pay separately for the tube - this is the beauty of contactless as you found out on Friday.
Sounds like the latter if you're going from Victoria - coaching it from Bristol? Enjoy Norway anyhoo!

Re: A free-for-all thread
Thinking of taking an Open University degree, not sure in what exactly yet. My current degree (Computer Studies from John Moores in 2008) isn't worth much to be quite honest and I don't want to be stuck in the same position in 5/10 years time.
Even contemplating a Masters. I have no confidence in my IT abilities to go for any sort of IT job - but I do meet the entry level requirements for it. Could be beneficial.
Any advice anyone? I'm thinking of doing it even just to show myself I can do it and I've got the aptitude to do it.
