A free-for-all thread
Re: A free-for-all thread
Yeah, I heard Kevin Smith talk about this yonks ago, and it's almost certainly been talked about before that.

Why do Netflix feel it's acceptable to remove things? Considering they are advertised fucking everywhere, smart TVs come with them already installed and they're an actual household name now, surely they should only ever add to it. The amount of things i've gone to watch on there that they've removed. It's really very annoying

Long story short, it's licensing costs. I think they use a syndicate model from the license holders, which means they can only broadcast the media for a certain amount of time.
At the same time they need to keep content fresh to keep users on the site, and to attract new users.
So really it's balancing the cost of keeping old content versus adding new content to keep shit fresh for the majority of users.
Who the hell reads anything in sigs these days, unless it's an animated gif?

Plus if they are paying for a certain show to be on there and there are only a handful of people watching it, the cost of keeping it on there would be more than the subscription of the amount of people watching it, so they'd just take it off the site. I assume.

Re: A free-for-all thread
A man is driving along a very rough road in Tibet and breaks down near a Buddhist monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?
The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, and even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound; a sound like no other that he has ever heard. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, We can't tell you because you're not a monk.
The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way. Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery.
The monks again accept him, feed him, and even fix his car.. Again that night, he hears the same strange mesmerizing sound that he had heard years earlier.
The next morning, he asks what the sound was, but the monks reply,
We can't tell you because you're not a monk.
The man says, all right, all right.. I'm dying to know
If the only way I can find out what that sound was is to become a monk, how do I become a monk?
The monks reply, you must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk.
The man sets about his task. Some forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of the monastery. He says, I have travelled the earth and devoted my life to the task demanded and have found what you had asked for.. There are 371,145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth.
The monks reply, congratulations, you are correct, and you are now accepted as one of us. We shall now show you the way to the sound.
The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, the sound is behind that door..
The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He asks, May I have the key ?
The monks give him the key, and he opens the door.
Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone... The man requests the key to the stone door.
The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. He demands another key from the monks, who
provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire. And so it went on until the man had gone through doors of emerald,...
He continues on:
....silver, topaz, and amethyst.
Finally, the monks say, This is the key to the last door ...
The man is relieved to be at the end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is astonished to find the source of that strange sound. It is truly an amazing and unbelievable sight

I don't get it...
anyways, anyone on here seen Wintersun since Time I came out? I'm probably gonna go see them tomorrow but I am wondering how good they can make Time sound live when it apparently contains about 200+ tracks per song...

Never heard it before, but I assume it's one of those long anti-jokes that gets a groan more than a laugh, and someone says "WHAT WAS IT?" and you go "I can't tell you, you're not a monk".
Generally work better spoken.

Aye. That's it.
You get curious as to what the noise is. But you've got to become a monk to find out.

I love those ones. My mates got a great one about a priest giving a guy half a lemon. He's managed to stretch the thing out to half an hour before.

Re: A free-for-all thread
I'm doing a cleanup on Facebook and just saw my deceased primary school friend's profile that hasn't been deactivated. Even though nobody would notice, is it kind of a dick move to delete them? I'd not seen them since primary school and I never had anything in common with them judging from my limited internet interacting with them.
Maybe I'm just paranoid that there's gonna be a flashing alert on my friend's feeds saying TIM DELETED A DEAD PERSON, WHAT A DICK! (write on Tim's wall to tell him what a dick he is).

It's quite weird by European standards...but by Japanese standards, it's quite normal.
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!
