So my memories are good from the short time I spent there. :D

Probably like most major cities there's loads of nice areas and some places you wouldn't go to at all. Most of the real scumbags avoid the City Centre like the plague so it's reasonably safe.

Yeovil ain't exactly a lovely town. Sure, there's a few nice places, but when you consider the population and size of the town, it really is a bit of a dump. Especially when you consider that a bunch of 10/11 year olds felt it was okay to beat up two inline skaters who were chilling out in a skate park and then, when they were caught, completely got away with it as they 'didn't know any better'. :|

Anyone who ventures out of Liverpool City Centre is essentially signing their own death sentence.

What happens on a recruitment day? I applied for bar work over Cheltenham races and they invited me to one on Saturday. Hopefully that's a good sign, but what will I be expected to do there?!

It's one of two things -

either a fair where they advertise all the various work that is available, or a group selection thingy.

Did you ask what it was about?

Both the above are bang on, except that the ones I did weren't great money - probs be just above min wage if anything.

It's £8 an hour plus tips, which should be pretty fucking good at the races, and it's bar work. I've done it before at other similar events, I've just never had to go to a recruitment day for one.

Basically what other have said. Will either be like a job fair type thing where they tell you what jobs are available or a group assessment/interview type thing like I had at HMV but less ridiculous

Edit:

Oh and even if you don't like doing it, make sure to speak up and don't be shy whatever it is. Even if you think it's pretty trivial input, as long as it's relative.

It must be the latter because I already know what the work is. Thanks anywho, doesn't sound too taxing.

My general rule is to dress like how I imagine their manager would dress.

EDIT: plus, it's a horseracing gig, a high profile one, there'll be poshness there.

Can't provide any useful input but are you going to be sticking around Cheltenham afterwards?
2017 Gigs (here so I remember to go)

17/06 - Guns N' Roses - London
15/07 - Saor - London
10/08 - 13/08 - Bloodstock

Cheltenham races isn't that posh - it's almost entirely drunk Irish people.
