The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.

Famous types seem to be dropping like flies at the moment, so let's have a proper, dedicated death thread to keep track.

Philip Seymour Hoffman
So, another great actor has died this weekend (Maximilian Schell went to the great Black Hole in the sky yesterday). Very sad for sure, but what makes this one worthy of a thread of his own?

Well, it turns out he's been found dead twice in the last three days.

On Friday, it was claimed he had been found dead but after his representatives stated he was very much "alive and well", and the whole thing was shown to be nothing but your usual, common or garden internet hoax.

Now, the day after everything looked to be cleared up, he's actually been found dead in his apartment.
Sky News

Seriously.
Wtf?

And RIP.
Obviously.

That he appears to have died of a drug overdose should make for an interesting topic of discussion on here then.
When Paul Gray died of a drug overdose a couple of years ago, the general consensus pretty much amounted to "served him fucking right".

Yeah but Andy's no longer here

I'm just annoyed it's messed up the Hunger games franchise.

Most of his stuff has already been filmed I believe, they'll rejig & 'Oliver Reed' the rest.

An idiot in that case possibly. But it doesn't detract from the fact that he was an amazing actor & shall be missed.

But I'm sure some will only concentrate on the drugs...

Clean for 20-odd years and then relapsed within the past year.

Checked last night and I've seen a shockingly low amount of his movies.
What I did see, though, he was excellent in.
RIP. Addiction sucks.

Capote is the obvious choice, due to the Oscar. But The Master or Synecdoche, New York are probably both better performances. Great in Big Lebowski, Talented Mr.Ripley, Almost Famous amongst many.

No one I know or care about. I'd never heard of him until yesterday. It turns out I haven't seen a single one of his films.
