Scott Asheton, from the Stooges and Sonics Rendezvous Band has died - he hadn't toured with the Stooges for a while after a stroke at Hellfest but played on last year's decent Ready To Die album. His brother, Ron (guitar on The Stooges and Funhouse, bass on Raw Power), died a few years ago.

Saw The Stooges with Ron and Scott and they were tremendous fun.

Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church is apparently on his death bed, and his family members who've left the church aren't being allowed access to visit him and say their goodbyes.
There'll be no "RIP" from me, and I doubt anyone on here (or anywhere else, aside from his family and fellow members of the WBC) will give a shit.

A question though - which would be better:
A) Soldiers, homosexuals and people with morals picketing his funeral and giving his family a taste of their own medicine, with no peace to mourn.
Or..
B) For the whole world to leave them be and effectively ignore his death?

Because part of me wants to see his family feel the same pain they've inflicted on others, but another doesn't see the point, as they won't learn from it, and it's not worth stooping to their level..

I personally see no point in picketing his funeral, because the WBC will just play it off the same way they always do because they're crazy people.

On the other hand, I'm not gonna judge anyone for picketing, because the guy was a fucking cunt of a human being and hurt a lot of people.

Also apparently, he was excommunicated from the church last Summer. So it makes no sense for them to be stopping other excommunicated members of the family to see him.
What are they doing? Waiting for him to die, so they can host their own funeral for him and picket it?

Never did see them live in the end. One of my bigger mistakes.

This kinda came out of nowhere.

Gwar were fucking beast. RIP

As posted on Facebook..
It's shocking to think I met him a month ago, and he was his usual, crazy and hilarious self.
Dave, thank you for the music, the shows and the good times. Oderus, enjoy your ride home on the World Maggot.

But really, I'm just completely in shock. GWAR have been one of my favourite bands for over 10 years. Gutted. Rest in peace, Dave.

Never was a big fan of GWAR's music, but they seemed like an entertaining bunch all the same. A real shame indeed. R.I.P. :(

Really sad news, metal has definitely lost one hell of a big personality there. He will be sorely missed. So glad I at least got to see GWAR at Bloodstock a few years back - they were magnificently ridiculous.

I don't like Gwar but they achieved a lot doing things their own way and Oderus's twitter was always good for a laugh or two.
