Speaking of Bloodstock nostalgia, does anyone remember the 101st? I saw someone at a gig last year with a 101st patch on their jacket, something I hadn't seen for many, many years.

Watching that programme, Back in Time for the Weekend, I'd forgotten about Dial-a-Disc which carried on into the 80s. Wasn't there a Kerrang! Line or something which played the latest metal songs?

Almost certainly. There was a lot of that sort of profiteering back in the day.

"Listen to the latest Iron Maiden single for 45p a minute" on a dodgy landline. You could buy the album for a fiver. :P

I also remember the dial-a-score run by BT where you could find out the latest football and cricket scores. All at premium rate obviously.

Oh Man, I remember watching The Kenny Everet Video Show when I was a kid. It made me feel like an adult.

So I bought the Euro 2016 Panini sticker album today. I never managed to finish one back in the day, determined to do it this year.

Heh. I'm the same. I never completed one as a child. I didn't even realise they were still a thing.

I was always told that it was made deliberately hard to complete one so that the collectors would get into the swapping thing. Certain players were always made rarer, so you always ended up with about 10 copies of some unknown Algerian when you really wanted Kenny Dalglish.

First one I had was 1978. Well before my day. :eyes:

It seems to be going the other way so far for me. I've got quite a few big players (Iniesta, Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Walcott, Oezil, Fabregas, Hazard, Benteke, Pepe etc.) and a pretty even spread across all the teams, but only one Ruskie and none at all on the Switzerland page yet.

I completed a few football sticker books and still have them somewhere. I remember the excitement of finding a metallic badge sticker in a packet. You could send for missing stickers to complete your album and that's what I did. There were these as well: http://cards.littleoak.com.au/index_topps.html

On a different subject:

Did you know that Opal Fruits (sorry, Starburst) once had a sister? Pacers were launched as “Opal Mints” in the 1970s, but didn’t really capture the public imagination until they were rebranded with whizzy green stripes and a sporty theme in the 80s. Sadly, they were retired to the great sweet graveyard in the same decade.

Wait I do remember a mint chewy sweet, like Chewits but minty. They were awesome, but definitely in the 90s.

My boss accused someone of dressing like an Opal Fruit because she was wearing a bright yellow jacket. She had no idea what he was talking about because she is 19. That made me feel old.

 I have forgotten what they're now called. Was more of a chewits child.

Fuck I knew it was a mistake coming in here, its usually filled with what Tet and Gandalf did during the war which I can't relate to but you are my age.

The thread definitely needs to be renamed "What Tet and Gandalf did in the war thread"
