You can get quite far with these, especially if you already have a bit of info. to go on, but you 'll probably eventually have to pay to get certificates or access to records via UKBMD above or websites such as these:

The British censuses are only published after 100 years so the next one out will be the 1921 census in 2021. Apparently, the 1931 census was destroyed in an accidental fire in 1942.
