Bloodstock Forum Meets 2017

Postby Noodle » Sun Jul 09, 2017 1:25 am

Thursday is an important day for Bloodstock, for this is the day the Forum members are able to forget about the traditional Bloodstock Forum Meet! The tradition stretches as far back as a time I cannot remember, where some members managed to totally miss each other due to having no clue what anyone looked like. 2017 looks to continue this as folks in a wide ranging state of sobriety descend on an agreed location inside the arena and awkwardly engage in small talk conversation.

Now that's the blurb bollocks taken care of... Shall we sort out the details?

LOCATION: Outside Rock Society & Lost Property tent in the arena.
TIME: Probably 7pm but potentially earlier. Most likely to be over by 9pm.

EXTRA MEET: Midgard, just inside the entrance near Samaritan's tent.
TIME: Around 9:15pm, between Wind Rose and Battle Beast
This is intended for sampling goods that aren't permitted inside the arena like home baked sweets and home brewed drinks.

If anyone feels they'll have trouble finding it I will be wearing my usual Thursday evening red and gold tailcoat, probably carrying my hipflask (any requests? If not, it'll probably be sherry this year) and mini tankard. Look for me if you want to witness me forget everyone's names, including yours. Don't take it personally; I forget my own sometimes.

Drunken Dodgems never happens and definitely won't this year due to Battle Beast so bollocks to it.

Last year we had it outside the Rock Society/Lost Property tent at 7pm. My thoughts were that the location was perfect, but perhaps too late as we saw people disappear fairly early on to catch bands in the Sophie tent. I know there's likely to be difficulty having it much earlier due to the Deli Kate Queue effect. Does anyone have any thoughts to add or are we fine with 7pm?
If it sounds good, listen to it

7pm worked quite well last year, I thought. The deli Kate queue effect happened mid-meet though, didn't it?

7pm seemed like a pretty spot on time to me, I'll be there again as always.

Ditto, although I may send baking with the Noodle if he's able to accomodate me this year?

I'm sure I can make it, especially if there's baked goods.

OK, Noodle can't help. So, unless anyone can smuggle the baked goods in, we're hosed.

I'm guessing Noodle can't help out due to increased security restrictions? If that's the case, I doubt anyone else will have any luck. Pity, I was hoping to smuggle in some of my homebrew with Noodle's magic staff pass.

Still, if the main arena is tightly guarded, perhaps a second meeting in Midgard or Valhalla could be arranged to share out homemade wonders?

I'm going to tentatively suggest 9:15 at the entrance to Midgard, near the camping stall (near Miss Daisies camping stall and the Samaritans). So after Wind Rose, but before Battle Beast.

It's because I'll have a guest wristband this year not crew. Sorry guys. It also means I probably wouldn't get my Thursday Tipple in either. This year would have been limoncello.

I'd be well up for a second meet in Midgard for consumption of campsite only drinks! I can certainly bring some homebrew beer. I'll add it to the OP

Noodle is indeed a national security concern, but he's been that way since all the time I have known him.

As I'm not camping, I can happily send baking to someone who can keep them until the "outside" meet. Alas, it's too long a walk to the car for me to be useful otherwise.

I know Noodle can be (barely) trusted not to just scarf the lot. You up for that dude?

I'll be there. I'll also hang at the IRC camp from like 5ish then try to drag some of those lazy buggers over to the arena when I leave around 6:30
