Re: The Relationships Thread
I think it's a pretty crap setting for a date. I'd rather watch a film at their/my house, where you can still hold a decent conversation.
Re: The Relationships Thread
For me a couple of hours where I don't have to say anything in another's company is a Good Thing.

Re: The Relationships Thread
Well it's not a date, nor do I want to cuddle. A female friend has asked me if I fancy going to the cinema, and whilst I've not mentioned to anyone yet, the way things are going at the moment I feel like everyone is going to have a moan about/not be pleased about it, so I'm just gauging people's general opinion in preparation for if we do end up going.
Sounds pathetic doesn't it? I can't go to see a film with a friend without worrying what others will think.

Re: The Relationships Thread
The word 'romantic' in your quote did suggest that the statement was related to a date of some sort.
Who the hell reads anything in sigs these days, unless it's an animated gif?

Re: The Relationships Thread
Because I know other people who have said that going to the cinema is seen a a sort of romantic gesture.
or to put it in context, when I went for a walk with her, my a different mate was telling me I have to realise that other people see going for walks as romantic, as they do other things like going to the cinema.
Now given the fuss that's gone on over going for a walk, I was a bit apprehensive when she asked about the the cinema. Which is ludicrous when I think about it, that I should feel this much under pressure for something so none-eventful as going to see a film with a friend.

Cinemas are boss. I got a bird to wank me off when we went to see Hot Fuzz once. It was pretty class.

Like I said, cinema is a crap 'date' idea. I don't think going to see a film with a friend is suggestive. I went to see Up with a really good male friend of mine and no-one batted an eyelid, even though me and James were long-distance at the time.
Just go for it. If anyone asks, say "Oh, did you want to come as well?". Defuses the 'exclusive' date idea.

I've been to the cinema with a close female friend before, it was totally fine and no-one said anything. Pretty good day as well.
Re: The Relationships Thread
See, if people would just illegally download all their movies we wouldn't be having this issue.

also going to the cinema as a date would be awful if the other person talked through it. it's bad enough when there's a friend who won't stop talking through films.

Re: The Relationships Thread
Man, can you seriously not go to a fucking movie with someone else without people going "OMG R U CHEATIN?"
Because like. Get some new friends. Or a new girlfriend.
Or don't go the movie.
Or I don't fucking know. Holy cunting christ.
Pull a bait and switch.
Go as platonic.
And then put your willy in her ear whilst you're watching the movie.

I know, it's pretty sad innit.
I'll keep the willy in ear in mind though, that sounds like a good plan.
