31 messages? blimey Romeo. I don't know how those things work, but maybe instead of messaging each girl that looks your type or whatever, spend more time writing the messages for a few select ones that really catch your eye?

Writing messages on OKcupid is a pain. If I write a long one and I'm not her cuppa physically then it's a wasted effort. I've got with 4 women from that site though.

So glad I skipped the whole Internet dating thing. Back in my day I pulled by going out in public and speaking to women. No, I didn't go to clubs. I just walked up to them walking down the street and started talking to them. The last one I did this to has been with me for the past 15 years.

So, hear that, lads? Be careful who you say 'hi' to.

Sploosh is my favourite word of the year now!

As for dating websites, went on them once, too scared to send any messages so gave up

My reservation with dating websites is that the person could be lying through their teeth about themselves - heck, enough people change or gloss over parts of themselves on the wider internet as a whole.

Mind you, I suppose if you met them it's only one wasted evening to find this out. I could just imagine if you got a string of them it'd be rather depressing.

Best of luck though Craig, let's hope you find someone nice :)

Plenty of people lie through their teeth out in the 'real' world about themselves too.

I think there is no more/less chance of someone lying in real life as there is on the internet. I just think the more intimidating part of a dating website is the fact you are literally on there for dating. As opposed to meeting people through real life means as it were where you can get to know someone and decide if they are going to be better as a friend or attempt to take it further. (Not that I have any more confidence in real life, but beyond the point!).

I think meeting someone over the internet has become far less of a taboo than it used to as it can allow a non risk/time way of getting to know someone, assuming they are "real" as it were online.

It's true you could lie through your back teeth in real life, I just tend to think it's easier over the internet and therefore more likely. Ah well!

Yeah, honestly this is what would put me off the most.
