I say as long as you're both happy keep at it, but as soon as either of you feel you're not, then don't drag it out for the sake of it, or whatever. Better to have a clean cut than have it drag out all messy and painful. :)

Oh I know. At the end of the day, if I didn't feel it was worth it I wouldn't be in the relationship. I can be quite objective when viewing things like this (much to the annoyance of others)

I wish I was able to view relationships like that objectively, but I suck at it. If I was any good at it I'd still be single, but I'd have known that my first and only relationship would have been a waste of time, energy, emotion and money from the start.
If I like it, It's probably awful.

I prefer the approach of enjoying my relationships. If I'm no longer enjoying the partnership, I see no reason to carry on. I don't see how any other childless relationships should be any difference, but then I am the world's best observer and psychologist of people.

No, but the actions of people can be objectively viewed. If I kiss her, we kissed, there's no interpretation involved.
There's more room for objective analysis in our situation, but that's a story for another day.

I think thinking with my head and not my heart is perhaps a better way of putting it.

I guess you could argue you are exchanging your love for the love of another, and other potential mutual benefits.

Hookers don't count as relationships.

It gets complicated when one attempts to buy the other out...

"Other half" and "significant other" irks me too.
