Its really annoying though, im not like this unless I'm in love, and then my boyfriend has to deal with me flying off the handle about everything, being depressed, paranoid and just generally fucking insane, which ultimately leads to the end of the relationship.

Let him worry about it and don't hate yourself for being mental. That will make the mental more mental and then he'll think you're a mental who's mental doesn't fit with his mental bareability level.
