One thing I've realised over time is that there is a really big difference between the desire for validation and actual loneliness. It becomes especially apparent the morning after basically. Anyway, so single people should maybe be wary of that. You may actually be really happy with your own company but were feeling a bit undesirable or something and needed to know you weren't.

I know exactly what you mean. But as they're not mutually exclusive, it's not so much distinguishing need for validation from need for intimacy, but distinguishing those things from actual desire for the other person.

Yeah. Sexual politics and other things, like the glamorization of easy sex confuse the matter. It's like you're pushed to judge yourself on your ability to attact women who are physically attractive to the extent that you would like to have sex with them, at least as they look in the darkened club, with their make up on, but in all likelyhood, there are plenty of women you'd get on with better, who are maybe more attractive, but aren't in that environment. I don't know, it's weird. It's like we revert / suffer atavism and act like bonobos.
