For me it'll be a typical Friday night, though another year of being Forever Aloneā„¢ has slightly softened my opinion of VD.

Venereal disease?

Hey, if you go without for long enough I guess you simply don't care about the risks any more.

For the first time ever, I forgot about valentines day this year. Fortunately she didn't care.

Bit of a rant...

With all the fuss surrounding it, I decided to download Tinder tonight. Flicked through as you do...liked this lass from nearby, and it appeared she returned the like.

Started chatting, then she got all flirty. She gave me her number and mentioned that I should see her in Leeds sometime. She's way outta my league and I just had that feeling that something wasn't right. I got all self depreciating as I tend to, and ended up asking if it was all a joke, like some raging bellend, after 2 hours of chat. She seemed taken aback by it, as you may/may not expect. There's a good chance I've cocked it again, all because of me not being able to think in a sane way. Really pissed me off...feel a proper freak about it. I can never just accept something like that because of a couple of bad experiences with "compliments" before. Fucking annoyed me now.

/rant

This is why it's better for some people to just do it in person.

I've had negative experiences in person too though...which I think I can't help but effect how I am with it sometimes.

I know I self depreciate too much...but it's hard not to at times.

Self-deprecating humour is one of my things, but it tends to end up misconstrued as fishing for compliments. It's best to just take the compliments as they come, and while you may not believe them, believe that they may mean well by them.

I can understand where you're coming from though, so I wouldn't really recommend using something like Tinder for that reason.

I've had a close mate (male) even say to me "It's not really funny anymore, it just looks sad". I don't do it to be funny....I think I just genuinely have it in my head haha.

This is what happens when you befriend twats haha. This is all from someone being all flirty and close with me, but telling my mates exactly what was going on, and then making me out to be a cunt haha. Cannae win

I've found networking at an event to be like trying to pull.

You don't just go up to random companies and say "got any jobs going?". You make friends, chat about inane things, find individual people's likes and dislikes and find what kind of people they are.

After a while when they have a requirement they'll remember you, dig out your business card from their stack and see if you're available to join them.

Takes a bit of effort to do, but the results are worth it.

Everytime you catch yourself doing it, pinch yourself. BOOM problem fixed.

Pretty much. You may not believe them, but nothing is more infuriating than someone constantly denying any compliment you pay them.
