CJ Sansom's latest Shardlake book is out on paperback, so I'll be nabbing that asap.

At the moment I'm reading Exit Music by Ian Rankin, little bits at a time.

Just started reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown recently. Heard it was a really good book, I haven't read anything in ages, and the film's coming out soonish, so I thought I'd best read it before watching the film! Really enjoying it so far :D

I think my dad's just finished the Reality Dysfunction :P

Lies.

Dan Brown books are proper toilet books, chapters that are about as long as the average, erm... visit, and content that will wash over you in a sort of lukewarm vaguely acceptable manner. as an actual book though, DULL.

The Way Of The Wyrd by Brian Bates
Great book, based on a collection of Anglo-Saxon magical and medical manuscripts from the British museum I am told.

and have just started
Twelve by Jasper Kent
Set during Napoleon's invasion of Russia. So far a good vampire (or Voordalak as they are called in the book ) story

Next one will be
ORCS by Stan Nicholls
Mary had a little lamb its fleece was coloured red
The reason for the colouring was the axe stuck in its head

Jsut finnished Bloodstock my Melvin Burgess. AMAZING book. It's a futurisation of an ancient myth with Sigrud and Fafnir the dragon. It is beautifully written if a little confusing at times. I would definatly recommend it!

Just finished: Simon R Green: The Unnatural Enquirer.

Set in The Nightside - a patch of concentrated weirdness and wickedness in the heart of London - a PI teams up with a half-succubus reporter to track down a DVD that may or may not have conclusive proof of the Afterlife. Not great literature but entertaining.

Yes I enjoyed that one. Has anyone read Robin Hobb's ' The Soldier Son Trilogy'. I was thinking of
picking it up, and would like any comments on it before I go buy the books.

I've just started reading Wilbur Smiths Egyptian novels, the first being River God. It's set in Ancient Egypt and for now sounds rather interesting, especially the 3rd and 4th book which i can't wait to get to.

Other than Historical Fiction, i quite enjoy James Herbert, any other Herbie fans out there? My favourite book by him so far has to be 'The Dark', but i'm yet to read them all so that might change

Nothing Robin Hobb has written is nearly as good as the 'Farseer Trilogy' The Liveships don't make you feel the same way (NIghteyes!) and the Soldiers Son doesn't have quiet the same depth. having said that though, I bought them all in Hardback as soon as they were printed and as I am notorious for speed reading I never buy hard backs so I must have really wanted to read them. I should also say that I haven't re read them which I always do when I really love a book.

So the jury's out on that one ;)

I still love the Belgariad but the best of all is the Janny Wurts & Raymond Feist 'Mistress of the Empire' trilogy.

I think I will give The Soldier Son Trilogy a miss.
I have Just finished 'Orcs' by Stan Nicholls, Really enjoyed it and it was nice to have a book from the Orcs view instead of them being the 'monsters'.
Starting 'Touch of Dark' by Karen Chance

I've managed to end up with four on the go at the same time!

One at work - Battle of the Hurtgen Forest
One in the kitchen - Ramage's Trial
One in the living room - Last stand!
One in the karzi - Viz Magna Farta

I almost started a fifth this morning...
