Re: The Book thread
Just finished Max Cavalera's biog. it's a good read if you can get past the stock phrases of"man, it was tough" "that riff was keelar" etc.

Finished 'The Richest Man in Babylon" and found my copy of Book Yourself Solid that I lost, so working back through that. Also started Plutarch's account of Sparta.

I was wondering whether to pick that up. I take it you'd recommend it, then?

Definitely! I'd recommend her first two books as well - The Secret History and The Little Friend. She's one of the few modern authors I get excited about.

Been reading Isaac Asimov's foundation series. Quite enjoyable for what it is.

Re: The Book thread
Sorry for starting here, but I'm a new member and as of yet I cannot start new posts of my own. And there doesn't appear to be any introductions topics, so books it has to be I suppose...
Currently reading Wheel of Time again. Fourteen books in all, I say again, but I got as far as book eleven and I decided to stop there because the last two books had not been released yet.
I then picked up A Song of Ice and Fire (or Game of Thrones).
I've also read Tolkien (not just LOTR), Feist (Magician and stuff), Eddings, Hobb, all that sort of stuff.
I also like my sci-fi, favourite author being the late Ian M. Banks.
So, there you go, first post...
cheers

Re: The Book thread
Welcome. Some fine selections there.
For reference, the closest thing to an introduction thread is here, if you wish to post any info & let people know a little more.
Or just post lots of random nonsense like everyone else & you'll soon get the hang of things around here.
