Tell them to switch their download server to the UK one, or the Swedish one. Mine was using the North Korea server for some unknown reason, so I was getting craptasticular speeds of about 40kb/s whenever it decided that it wasn't going to show the status as "download starting...".
Change server by going File > Settings > Downloads > Download Region
Steam released a client update yesterday which should fix the "download starting..." message (but I doubt it will, because it's not a new problem and it's never been fixed yet), and another today which should fix some problems that relate specifically to the distribution of Empire.

Going to the midnight zombie party at gamestation for the resi5 launch! Should be fun!
Re: Computer Games Thread
Just added a couple of terabyte hard drives set up in RAID 0, so once the NTFS is set up I'll be moving my games onto there. Hopefully that'll speed up the loading times of some of the larger games.
Also ordered a new gaming mouse and mouse mat to play around with.
Just doing my bit for the recession recovery.

What I liked about that game was you could build as many superweapons as you wanted, rather just the one that other C&C games give you. That led to alot of 'ten nukes Vs one base' scenarios.
Lots of fun!

Haha yep, I also enjoyed taking over other bases so you could use all the different super weapons at once, good times!
And of course getting the suicide bombers driving around in cars was always fun

I've never really bothered with using any other mouse for gaming than the standard Microsoft Intellimouse. I remember years ago, Heaton (any old CS player will probably remember him) brought in some stupidly expensive gaming mouse and pad to E-quest and I had a quick play on them...it was nice and an improvement to a point, but I didn't feel they were worth the money back then when I was quite happy to sit at the top of the UT leaderboards with an Intellimouse
