Hopefully 'broken steel' will make me care about fallout again. It's a deceptively short game.

That's reeeeeaally not true though is it? I mean, granted the main campaign is rather brief, but nothing about that game urges you to just stick to the main path. Anybody that does has clearly completely missed its beauty (in my opinion at least.)

I must attest to still not having finished the game, despite racking up an insane amount of hours (literally at least triple what I've played of any other PS3 game (and yes I have a PS3 not an Xbox)) and not even being half way through the main campaign.

Nah, it is pretty short.
There's, what, less than a dozen side quests? And no equivalent of guilds or factions to join. The environment is both smaller and less interesting than oblivion (massively so if you compare it to morrowind), most of the locations are little more than abandoned houses or the odd cave.

Anyway, Broken steel is downloading as I type, hopefully it'll work.

But it isn't, at all. I haven't counted how many 'quests' there are (it certainly seems more than 12), but if you take interest in the exploration and the things to do that the game encourages you to, you end up like I did. I've put at least 48 hours in in total (and if that's short to you, then this debate is purely opinion and there's nothing left to say anyway(!)) and I've not actually met his dad yet. I cannot remember spending this long on a game before (though I'm sure Baldur's Gate on the PS2 rivals it after a couple of play throughs.)

You get out what you put in at the end of the day. The main quest is apparently short as hell, but the way I've been playing is anything but short..

I downloaded the Katawa Shoujou demo, and have played through it a good few times. I'm quite fond of Emi, and Rin is hilarious. Hanako and Lilly are quite nice too, but I find Shizune annoying, and Misha too boisterous.

Overall, the game seems really professionally written. It's got decent music, and the characters are pretty well developed given this is just a short demo. I'm really looking forward to the final release of this.

Better than the first one, I thought.

Leave the hall, sir

I loved the first one, but couldn't get on with the second one at all. I found myself fighting the urge to photoshop My Chemical Romance tshirts onto the whiney demon twins

I just liked giving my mage dual longswords! :D

HoW was great, but Trials of the Luremaste pissed me off no end...and the first one didn't get cool until the last chapter or two for me.

Hmm, not tried Trials of the Luremaster, may give it a miss.

Admittedly, it *is* much better once you get to the Severed Hand and what not :)

Hmm, yeah the weapon and spell specs are better in the second one - too bad about the story though  and why is there no option to kill the whiney druid bloke in Kuldahar? :( that made me very sad indeed

If you open up any next-gen controller you'll find one in there.

Finished the main quest of 'broken steel'.
It was OK.
The higher level cap and combat orientated main quest makes the game MUCH harder and so it makes the game seem more fun, like surviving is an actual challenge like it was at the start of the game. A few extra side quests add even more longevity but the lack of new areas on the wasteland means you'll be treading the same ground as usual.
The story was pretty strong, no complaints there. Solid 50's scifi style space weapons, AIs and robots are involved.
New weapons are fairly entertaining but unfortunately they are so powerful that they cancel out the difficulty increase. I tried to use them as little as possible.
New environments are fairly generic labs and military bases, but there are a number of visually impressive set-pieces to spice things up.
So overall, a good pack.

@ Blaken: I probably should have said 'short, compared to other RPGs'. By the standard of most games fallout is epically large, but compared to bethesda's other work and the likes of Kotor I found it just didn't have the replay value.

I've become rather obsessed with COD4 lately. I played the game back when it first came out (the campaign, that is), but recently got really into playing it online. Every evening I team up with a couple of guys from work and play Headquarters for an hour or so. It's such a laugh.

I'm also hooked on Rock Band 2. It's such a great game, and playing the drums is great stress relief after a long, mentally draining day at work.

I actually play tons of games, mostly on XBox. It's a good way to unwind at the end of the day, and I enjoy the social aspect of gaming online with friends.

I'm still playing lots of Left4Dead and with a new massive update for Team Fortress 2 coming out soon, I'll be getting back into that.

Haven't played any new games at all.
