That's reeeeeaally not true though is it? I mean, granted the main campaign is rather brief, but nothing about that game urges you to just stick to the main path. Anybody that does has clearly completely missed its beauty (in my opinion at least.)
I must attest to still not having finished the game, despite racking up an insane amount of hours (literally at least triple what I've played of any other PS3 game (and yes I have a PS3 not an Xbox)) and not even being half way through the main campaign.
Nah, it is pretty short.
There's, what, less than a dozen side quests? And no equivalent of guilds or factions to join. The environment is both smaller and less interesting than oblivion (massively so if you compare it to morrowind), most of the locations are little more than abandoned houses or the odd cave.
Anyway, Broken steel is downloading as I type, hopefully it'll work.
But it isn't, at all. I haven't counted how many 'quests' there are (it certainly seems more than 12), but if you take interest in the exploration and the things to do that the game encourages you to, you end up like I did. I've put at least 48 hours in in total (and if that's short to you, then this debate is purely opinion and there's nothing left to say anyway(!)) and I've not actually met his dad yet. I cannot remember spending this long on a game before (though I'm sure Baldur's Gate on the PS2 rivals it after a couple of play throughs.)
You get out what you put in at the end of the day. The main quest is apparently short as hell, but the way I've been playing is anything but short..
