I would like to think that this has got all of the grunters out of the way in one go.
But I doubt that :x

I love your optimism, the only time I remember an announcement that wasn't met with condemnation on this website was when King Diamond got booked. I would have said this was a fairly strong announcement (although not one that tempts me much since I've seen the two of these I like recently) all in all.

Hey that's not fair on the other bands putting them in the same category!

I know there's a lack of variety in this announcement but this is clearly for the extreme fans, it will please alot of people, especially my group! They are not Damnation bands! Dannation is more about Doom, Sludge and Stoner with the odd Black or Death metal bands thrown in.

I was, admittedly, being a bit facetious when I used the term 'Damnation bands' - it was done in the same way that, when any of the more 'mainstream' metal bands get booked, they are referred to as 'Download bands'.

Kidding aside though, it is disappointing that a single announcement focused entirely on death metal. Once again, extreme metal is far outweighing the melodic bands at the moment and hopefully that imbalance will be redressed. Blind Guardian was a step in the right direction but I hope the organisers don't just think that will keep the power metal fans happy for a whole weekend.

I have to agree with you there, the other bands are nowhere near as good as Five Finger Death Punch :P

Unless they have no other bands to announce, I'm not a fan of announcements that don't have alot of variety; and I'm saying that as someone who should of been very excited at this previous announcement.

Given that we barely have any of the lineup, I'd say it's a safe assumption that we'll be getting more variety in later announcements.

I think I can predict next announcement;

Therion
Hammerfall
Stratovarius

If anyone thinks that Obituary, Decapitated and Brujeria sound the same then I seriously suggest going to a hearing doctor.

Have you not been paying attention to the bookings in previous years? I hope you're right. I fear you're probably not.

lol.....as if!

Instead of booking bands that would please original fans like the above, BOA has shown it would much rather book bands like Haterbreed, Stuck Mojo and Kill 2 This.

Blind Guardian are likely to be the only high profile power metal band, we'd certainly never get 3.

Except for the fact they are playing Hammerfest which makes them pretty unlikely for me.
BANDS I LIKE FOR BLOODSTOCK!!!
