That's where I know them from then. I saw the announcement, knew I would be going to see them if they didn't clash with anything else, and have been trying to work out where I know them from ever since. Thank you for solving a mystery.

Poor announcement, yet another shitcore band on the mainstage!
Never heard of any of them like most, so will give a quick listen, not expecting anything.
Really annoying that another mainstage slot is wasted like this, hope it's not at the expense of an actual metal band. Oh well easily avoided.

Not fussed on Mantar but Lionize, Black Moth & Wolfheart sound worth a watch.

The bottom half of the Dio stage is looking dreadful. Assuming the fifth bands down are Soilwork - Annihilator - Hell there's nothing I want to see below that level.

I'm actually fine with the bottom half of the Dio stage looking the way it is. Every year I have clashes early in the day with someone on there and at least one (or both) of the other stages.

Broken Teeth- Seen them support other bands twice now and both times they have had horrendous sound problems, however after giving them a youtube I can't say I was missing much.

Mantar- Alright I guess, won't see them but wouldn't object to listening to them again

Black Moth- Again, alright I guess. Doubt I would see them unless I'm passing by and have nothing better to do.

Wolfheart- Again, alight I guess (Anyone sensing a pattern :P ) however I can see myself getting dragged along to see them.

Lionize- Wow, may not be the best rock music around but it's enjoyable, unless there is a clash I will try and see them.

1/5, poor going's for me.

Sunday is looking really bizarre at them moment, if Possessed aren't moved back to the Saturday that means there is one more band to be announced, with BT being the openers, I can only see the last band to be the ones on after BT meaning Obituary have dropped 2 spaces since they last played but are much bigger than their counterparts on the Friday and Saturday. I'm not complaining, it's just looking completely stacked compared to the other 2 days.

Who's everyone hoping for on the Sophie stage on the opening night?

I think Ross the Boss or Blaze Bayley would be great.

I'm not sure about the headliner - there's quite a lot of choice in that respect.

However, we can probably have a guess at at least one band. There seems to be a trend to book a New Blood band from one year as one of the earlier Thursday Sophie bands the next. Should that pattern remain, I would go with Footprints in the Custard - they got very god reviews, and have the right kind of party vibe that they look to promote on the Thursday.

In fact, looking back at the Thursday last year, the four bands beneath Phil Campbell were all previously BOA New Blood Bands:

Psykosis - 2014
Sumer - 2015
Karybdis - 2013
Sublime Eyes - 2012.

I quite like this idea, though I wouldn't mind seeing it expanded to include bands on the Jager stage. Looking back over recent years, you could put together an interesting card along the lines of:

Footprints in the Custard (New Blood, 2016)
Ten Foot Wizard (Jager, 2014)
Wretched Toad (New Blood, 2015)
Rezinwolf (New Blood, 2013)

Rabid Bitch of the North
Hanowar

Would be happy with Rabid Bitch of the North as I wanted to see them the other year but missed them in the end. Plus Hanowar sound like fun.

No chance of Blaze Ballet as he's playing in the US unfortunately

Slightly off topic but just read on Facebook that they're adding a new campsite this year. Seems like a good move and hopefully will make Hel a little less cramped.

I lost my voice after that from singing along. As I did watching Ross The Boss in London a few weeks back, which was my gig of the year so far. Either would be great for the Thursday.

How about Nanowar Of Steel and Mambo Kurt?

Would rather watch Mambo Kurt than Footprints in the Custard.

Hayseed Dixie would be great too.
