Dee is an entertainer, and says what he needs to say on stage in order to entertain. Don't treat his on stage words as truth.

So another hardcore band I've never heard of for the mainstage and yet another thrash band for Saturday (I like thrash, but it's just silly now). If they're going to book no-name nonsense they could at least have made it Beholder so we could all get our smug on.

Really gutted to loose Scarab, and hopefully Mantar are just switching days and it hasn't been updated. I'm not seeing any other new bands on the Sophie to replace them, but I might just be being dense.

EDIT: Just noticed Red Rum are there. Would have preferred Mantar as I only saw Red Rum recently, but they're good fun so I can't really complain.

I don't think you can call Xentrix "no name nonsense" seeing as they are one of the few Heavy Metal bands to have had a chart hit.

I meant Venom Prison, but I can see now that's unclear. Xentrix I've heard of.

Ah. right.

Problem is they've replaced one band I probably would have watched but won't because they clash with Kreator, with another.

I don't know Venom Prison. I've heard the name and have always assumed they were something I wouldn't like as they always play on bills with bands I don't like, usually kiddie Metalcore bands.

Not paid to much attention to them but know they played Damnation last year and have been getting rapidly more popular since then according to some friends of mine who are fans

And now they clash with Silverchild :( Well, 2 2-way clashes is better than a 3-way clash, at least I can watch half of all 4 bands now.

I'm actually really happy with this announcement, a massive shame for those who were looking forward to Scarab and/or Mantar though.

Didn't get the chance to catch Venom Prison at Damnation last year as they clashed with someone else so happy I get the chance to see them at Bloodstock. I was also surprised that they've been given a main stage slot but they seem to be very popular at the moment, probably roughly on par with Cambion who had an opening slot last year. Not sure where people are getting the idea of them being a "core" band though, I always thought they were straight up death metal :? Their latest album Animus certainly is anyway.

Well happy to see Xentrix playing. Saw them a couple of years ago at Thrashersaurus and been wanting to see them again since! Hopefully they don't clash too much with Kreator.

Red Rum also a great addition. Loved them when I saw them a few weeks back and adds a bit more folk which will be refreshing!

Lots of New Blood bands to check out too :)

Venom Prison seem to be a band with a lot of media hype behind them, I've heard their name bandied around quite a bit so I assumed they would play (admittedly I thought as a Sophie stage act). I think people have assumed they're a "core" act as Metal Hammer and Kerrang have been hyping them up alot so people have taken a lead from that. In terms of stage positioning, if BT and FS can open the stages with their hype then VP are just a step above them. Personally, they're ok, nothing groundbreaking but not unlistenable either.

I'm far from complaining but do Obituary and M Waste have hour long slots or have you just modelled it off of last year's times i.e. Satyricon and Fear Factory?

Thanks again though, now that I can see all the acts spread out like this the excitement ramps up :D

Pretty bummed about Scarab, but I'm happy to see Red Rum in the mix.

I have not yet checked out Venom Prison, but Metal Archives lists them as "Death Metal / Hardcore".

I haven't checked them out either.

But when they do play they usually play with the types of band that are more towards the Kerrang end of the Death/Metal Core spectrum rather than pure Death Metal bands. Darkest Hour and Suicide Silence for example.

Hanowar clashing with Blind Guardian? I do hope that's not accurate.

Less clashes for me than any previous year, but the Friday night car crash of Blind Guardian, Nordjevel, Lionize and Hanowar is brutal.

Happy with Red Rum, but is it me or are the openers on the main stage terrible this year

I personally agree with you, I think the first two bands on each day are pretty poor (only one I might watch), but I've seen quite a few people who are happy with Fallujah though. Seen very little positive about FS and BT.
