Bloodstock 2018???

Postby JD_B3E5 » Sun Jun 11, 2017 3:04 pm

Since the full 2017 lineup has been out for some time now, I'm starting to wonder which bands would headline next years festival.

Mine would be:

Friday - Killswitch Engage
Saturday - Trivium
Sunday - Judas Priest

Thoughts? Who would be your ideal headliners for next year?

Nightwish are doing a tour to support a 'best of' cd and promising older songs. Only US dates for next year atm but can see them being in with a shout. No doubt there will be a 'Priest for BOA' campaign again next year.

Would not be surprised if Trivium headlined again. They've got a new album coming soon and it would be weird not to do a tour alongside it.

The 2017 line up is nowhere near complete. There are at least another 20 or so bands to be added including four mainstage bands.

As for the bands picked. Trivium played to one of the smallest headline crowds for years and haven't got any bigger, Killswitch Engage is not really suitable IMO (but just the sort of thing they like to book) and Judas Priest would probably cost too much.

Too early to start this sort of thing for me. Can't we get this year out of the way first?

Sorry I just like to speculate about festivals sometimes. I agree with you over Judas Priest, but it would be brilliant if they headlined.

Trivium and Killswitch Engage  The Forum would go into meltdown

Hopefully Bloodstock can do better than that!!

My current predictions:

Sabaton or Gojira
Five Finger Death Punch
Judas Priest

I'd say Sabaton are a given. Probably as headliner, maybe as special guests if they get someone really good.

I'd love to see Nightwish play, it seems like they should have more recently than 2008, so would definitely be a good shout.

I've heard that Judas Priest are doing a new album soon, probably some shows to support it, so it might actually be a decent time to get them. That's if they aren't going to cost too much though.

If Priest aren't doing it, I fully expect to get Slayer. Considering those are the kind of innovative ideas BOA has these days.

For the shitty mainstream headliner, I'm still expecting Machine Head back. Or Five Finger. Maybe Killswitch. Something that hasn't been relevant in years.
BANDS I LIKE FOR BLOODSTOCK!!!

No way Trivium should headline again, no fucker watched them. Not even worthy of Special Guest with that crowd.

I'd love Nightwish but worry they're too big, second down at Download last year.

My choices would be Sabaton, Volbeat and Priest.

I think a likely selection could be Disturbed, FFDP and Ministry.

I'd be happy with any 3 of those 6 though.

Please not Trivium, they emptied a chunk of the arena in 2015.

Didn't Machine Head say that they won't play festivals ever again?

Or is that just wishful thinking?

Didn't play any on their last album http://loudwire.com/machine-head-skip-festival-shows-bloodstones-diamonds-touring/

Personally I think that's a really good Machine Head policy and they should stick with it.

I take it Slipknot would be way too expensive, wouldn't they? Not that they'll even tour in 2018.
