Not sure if they will return to festivals over here.

I think "hissy fit" is harsh, yeah they didn't think they were getting high enough slots but I think a lot of that came down to the fact they're getting 60 minutes at the vast majority of festivals they play (even headlining would've been 2 hours at the absolute most), they went on tour with no support and played between 2h30m & 3h15m so gave their fans more value for money, unlike a lot of bands they probably don't pick up that many new fans from festival shows

Think Soni '09 also played into it, were booked high up the bill and then late on were knocked down a slot to make way for Limp Bizkit, that would piss anyone off to be fair :P

I think they would pick up more new fans at festivals than their own shows, how many casual fans are going to stump up over £40 on a whim? I wouldn't call it a hissy fit but I think they're probably fed up with their treatment by festivals, I imagine they'll change their mind at some point.

Recall hearing a story that they were earmarked for a prime spot at Download if their arena tour sold well, but it didn't so they were offered a lowlier position instead

I remember a few sites putting out articles like this around the time, kinda killed off any momentum they had. Do have to laugh at the article saying the £30 was too expensive for an arena gig, hindsight eh

Are In Flames big enough to headline these days?

I wouldn't have thought so but they did play the O2 earlier this year. If they were to headline I could see them receiving as sparse a crowd as Trivium had. Their embarrassing venture into alternative rock won't do them any favours at a Metal festival.

They were the opening band on the bill and only got 30 mins, I wouldn't call that strong evidence in their case to be a headliner.

I wouldn't have thought so, they're certainly not the sort of band that would get anyone excited for next year. The change of style and their less than stellar recent material suggests a late afternoon/tea time slot.

Danzig?

I suppose they do quite like those bands that were a minor "one hit wonder" from the 1990s.

Let Download have them as they would go down better there.

Hard to tell with Danzig, doesn't tour much and he's had to dip into promoting his shows with a Misfits tag (with justification, his last two albums were dire) . Personally I'd give him a go but I'd try to put him 3rd/4th as a safe bet (though if the rumors that he has a big ego are true I'd doubt they convince him to take a smaller slot).

I'd like to see Danzig again - he got a decent crowd on his last tour - bigger than the SGs this year typically get - but a diverse crowd that a lot of which wouldn't be interested in BoA. The rumours of him being a pain have a long history - wanting catering cleared when he wanted to eat, no eye contact etc even when he was down the bill at Ozzfest, such that Mrs O made it her mission to piss him off even more. Even Joe Elliot decked him once.

In Flames ain't big enough to headline, and Danzig definitely isn't big enough for SG, maybe headlining the Sophie tent, but he wouldn't get anything bigger than 3rd down on the main stage, and I doubt he'd get much of a crowd.

If they book Helloween it'd have to be the current "pumpkins united" thing, which would demand a huge fee and get a crowd that nowhere near justifies the fee, ain't happening.

Devin? Would be an unimaginative and tired booking from an act that plays the UK constantly....will probably happen then!!!

Nightwish is a possibility, maybe the last time BOA can book them before they officially get too big for the festival.

When you say 3rd down do you mean the same slot Whitechapel, Havok etc are in this year? Because your underestimating his popularity by a wide margin. He would be on the higher end of the mainstage for sure.

Way back in RAW magazine - tea trays at dawn:

After seeing Danzig's response about the
Def Leppard/Danzig brawl, Joe Elliot had a few comments of his own. In
a recent RAW interview, he had these things to say: first, Joe claims
that he did not give the story to RAW to begin with. None of the
comments were true and the story came from an over-imaginative reporter.
Secondly, in regard to the publicity stunt charge, he stated that they
were the headliners at a festival in Germany with over 50,000 people in
attendance. Danzig was way down on the billing. So if anybody needed
publicity, it would be Danzig and not Def Leppard.

And finally, Elliot had these last statements: "Yes an altercation
did occur in Germany because Glenn Danzig is a rude little fuck." He
further explained, "We weren't in his way, as he claimed. He was carrying
his dinner and walked straight into us. He said, 'Get the fuck out of my
way!'" Joe then said they asked him to repeat it because they couldn't
believe what they had heard. He also claims they didn't even know who
Danzig was.

"I actually thought he was a stagehand. I certainly didn't recognize him
because he was so short!" He then added, "And, yes, he got his ass kicked
twice, once by me, once by Vivian." He went on to say that Danzig was not as
brave as he claimed, referring to another incident where Glenn apparently
called Vivian Campbell's wife a non-complimentary name. And Joe also denied
that Danzig tried in any way to settle the matter. "Obviously, he must have
small man's syndrome."
