The Booze Thread

Postby i0th » Tue Jul 11, 2017 10:23 am

As its pretty much time to start gathering things together for Bloodstock, what decent booze offers are knocking around?

Tesco's doing 3 for £10 on 4packs of ale (Hobgoblin, Hobgoblin Gold, Bombadier, Old Speckled Hen, Fursty Ferret, Wainwright, Tangle Foot & Abbot).

Bit late for others now, but Amazon were doing a litre of Kracken for £23 in their primeday sale yesterday. Picked up one of those, so I'll be bringing some of that with me. Other than that, I'll be bringing a two or three litres of homebrew mead. I don't have high hopes that the VIP bar will have mead on sale considering they fucked it off last year, so I'll be bringing more mead than I did last year to see me through the weekend.

I will bring a litre of vodka as normal and a few cans of Guinness.

I have the VIP bar at my disposal if I want a chilled pint or three.

My better half won a big 'ol bottle of Kraken in the M2TM raffle, so that'll be coming with us pre-mixed for her (I don't really do spirits). We've still got Ragnard Rock Festival to go before Bloodstock, so I'm probably not going to be really loading up until we're back from that. Hopefully Morrisons will have their summertime crate offers on by then.

That 3 for £10 offer has lagers & ciders in too.

Did my booze shopping last night:
12 cans of Hobgoblin
12 cans of Hobgoblin Gold
4 cans of Bombadier
4 cans of Fursty Ferret
4 cans of Old Speckled Hen
8 cans of Pimm's & Lemonade
8 cans of Smirnoff & Diet Cola
1 litre of Honey Jack Daniels (bought a few weeks ago when it was on offer for £18 a bottkle)
1/2 litre of Messer Schmitt (for breakfast)

Now I just have to resist the urge to drink it all before Bloodstock.

That's always my problem if I try to do it earlier than the day before. Those Bombadiers and Old Speckled Hens wouldn't last the night :)

Aye, well I bought a few "house beers" too and had dumped the Bloodstock stuff at the back of the garage with my tent and stuff so hopefully that'll put me off retrieving them too early.

Probably Perlenbacher fron lidl, £2.65 for 4 cans, 4.5% and taste pretty good.

Bargain booze is doing Carling fruits cider at £10 for 18 cans, plus some other crate deals.

Think I may pick up a few cans of different ales in that Tesco deal before it ends! Every year I've been to Bloodstock I've always taken lager for some reason, no wonder I never finish it  This year I'm feeling a selection of ales and cider and will also take some honey Jack Daniels for my hip flask. I'm very lucky to be getting a lift from my house to the festival this year too which saves the worry of lugging beer on the train

Picked up 8 Wainwright and 4 Hobgoblin on the Tesco deal - cheers for the hint. Put that together with 4L or so of Homebrew (York - Stonewall) if it's ready and a mini-keg of Black Sheep and I should be sorted for the campsite. I'm having a couple of weeks off the ale at the moment so it probably wasn't the best time to be brewing and buying beer but it's given me something to look forward to.

Not yet but in one of the q&a's Adam said pints would be four pound something lol. Think they were around the 4.50 mark last year?
