The main problem for is not that Bloodstock books download bands (I still have an interest in that area) but they book their sloppy seconds as it were. It's not booking Download bands that's bad but they're booking the ones who played last years festival (top 6 bands on the bill + Orange Goblin, Sepultura this year and Down, Amon Amarth and Hellyeah in 2014 and Machine Head and Alice Cooper in 2012); not bad bookings if they hadn't just played DL the year before. If BOA were to book Nightwish, Killswitch Engage, Kverlertak or Coheed and Cambria I'd imagine would be better received by the metal hammer crowd who i'd imagine it'd be aimed at.

So these mainstream acts their booking (coupled with UK tours they've done around DL and BOA) have a smaller appeal to a wider audience and is putting off your current audience for the most part. If your going to go more mainstream then pick bands who are actually going to pull punters in not don't bother and try capitalize on your current audience if you want to grow the festival, your cutting off your nose to spite your face this way

If it was a case of them getting a few Download bands its not too bad. It's not though, the top six bands this year are bands that played Download last year, three of them one after another. However you splice it, that's a lack of ambition, especially when you're eating you're top slots to traditional BOA bands. They seem to be limiting the bigger bands they can get, as they seem to be thinking that only bands that will appeal to a mainstream audience can get those slots (or at least they seem to prefer it). They are slowly edging out most underground bands, and making it similar to the Download repeat system - they already seem to think the only power metal band they can book is Sabaton. It's totally the wrong move if you ask me - so far this year looks OK for me, but unless next year is a radical shift I can see me trying somewhere else soon.
BANDS I LIKE FOR BLOODSTOCK!!!

The stars have aligned on this day, let's hope they don't fuck it up like they have every other headliner/sub so far this year.

Nope. I've spent a long time thinking about this from many angles and I've tried really, really hard but I still don't see how booking a terrible band as a sub-headliner/special guest equates to "not fucking things up" :?

Didn't forsee this at all, Beardy.

:P
actual hipster emo scum that still thinks his views on metal are worth commenting. deafheaven, baroness, blind guardian, kvelertak and converge pls

BLs confirmed, Napalm Death and Wolf both confirmed for the main stage as well (leaving one slot I think?)

Wolf play every few years - kind of straight up heavy metal. I like 'em.

"Hail, Caesar" and "Voodoo" would be a good place to start, I think.

Hopefully ND play the Sunday, it could use some good bands.

Based on previous years, there are two slots on Friday and one on Saturday still to be filled.
