Love Priest but Scorps for me as they are less likely to tour and at this stage a better live band.
What i would give to see them at Newcastle Academy again

Judas Priest have just announced a string of European dates with the last one being Wacken on August 1st, no UK shows announced.

If you look at all their dates, it looks a pretty good shout that they'll either be at Bloodstock or Download.

Yeah, it'd be one or the other alright.

I think they could get away with playing both festivals

They could, but Download are known for tying bands into exclusivity.

Only usually if they are a special attraction of some kind. IIRC didn't Motorhead play Download the year they headlined Bloodstock?

Arn't the bookers for both festivals friends or something? If download had Judas Priest as an exclusive that would screw over bloodstock pretty bad!

No, they played Sonisphere that year. But yeah, it tends to be headliners that are locked in as "Exclusives" and Judas Priest aren't quite big enough to headline Download

Think it depends on the business side of it (and when they're announced) - ie how much cash they get. FNM played Reading and Download in the same year, and Slash did Glastonbury and Wireless when he played (but had a lower mid afternoon slot below Billy Idol). IIRC even lower bands like Lawnmower Deth got tied in when they played, and MH were announced for BOA after they had played Download.

Either is as uninteresting as the other for me, but i know they'd go down well.

True, but Judas Priest as an exclusive would still be a big pull. I hope they don't play Download exclusively, it's just a feeling I have that they wouldn't be able to play another festival in the UK.
