I think there's a dividing line - pre and post Eddie Van Halen. VH were the longest step away from the more bluesy players of the 70s and they probably influenced the more metal of the glam rock flock. Slash and Izzy seemed to be influenced more by the pre-EVH era. Drummers made a difference aswell.

True, didn't think of it like that, the only thing that I can say that disputes that theory is Motley Crue; individual band members always list rock bands like Aerosmith and Kiss as influences and albums always had a punky feel to them (especially Too Fast for Love).
When you listen to them and look at the tablatures the songs are basically rock songs (but not traditional blues rock), so how are they classed as metal? (not disputing the glam tag  )

Friday at Bloodstock :D

(wishful thinking)

They'll turn up at Sonisphere I reckon (Friday or Sunday so day ticket is doable.)

Yeah I hope your right! Hope Sonisphere goes away, theres no room for it in the UK! Unless it was to replace Download.

Highly unlikely considering they sell out arenas in minutes.

There's no way Fleetwood Mac would play, can't see them ever playing, very surprised there even mentioned on here!
