BLOODSTOCK REVEAL TEN MORE BANDS PLUS MORE CLUB NIGHTS

Postby administrator » Tue May 26, 2015 10:07 am

With 2015’s festival season officially underway, BLOODSTOCK still has plenty to reveal about the summer’s premiere metal weekender. Ten more bands, to start with…

Joining the Sophie Lancaster Stage line-up on Friday are MESSIAH’S KISS (https://www.facebook.com/MessiahsKiss), featuring former session musicians for Tony Iommi and Saxon. Saturday sees the addition of old school thrashers ANNIHILATED(https://www.facebook.com/anihilated), as well as death metal band AGELESS OBLIVION https://www.facebook.com/agelessoblivion). Digital tech metal act THE IZUNA DROP (https://www.facebook.com/theizunadrop), featuring Jamie from UK Subs, are all set to perform on Sunday, alongside female-fronted, classic doomsters ALUNAH (https://www.facebook.com/alunah.doom).

BLOODSTOCK is also pleased to announce five bands for the Jagermeister Stage. On Friday, if you’re a fan of bands like Karnivool and Tesseract, head over to check out progsters THE PARALLAX METHOD(https://www.facebook.com/theparallaxmethod). Female-fronted, dark melodic metallers WINTER STORM (https://www.facebook.com/winterstormuk) also nab a Friday slot. Former Status Quo support band KNOCK OUT KAINE(https://www.facebook.com/knockoutkaine) bring their brand of ballsy rock ‘n’ roll to the Jager stage on Saturday. Inspired by heavy metal Gods of the late 70's/early 80's such as Budgie, Tank, Venom, and Motorhead, BLIND HAZE(https://www.facebook.com/Blindhazeband) steamroll in on Sunday, joined by Irish progressive trio SNOWBLIND (https://www.facebook.com/SnowblindIreland) - definitely one to see if you like your time changes and musical curveballs!

Don't know any of the bands, but have noticed that there are now 12 bands on the Sophie stage each day rather than the 11 last year. I wonder if that means earlier start, later finish or shorter set lengths?

Only name I recognise is Winter Storm as someone from the band was trying to drum up support on these forums a while back, can't remember what they sound like. Will give them all a listen tonight if I get time, off to see Mad Max so might have to wait til tomorrrow.

Hopefully after last year's success at having Satan play til midnight this will be happening every day.

Alunah are good - I liked their album and seen them a couple of times - they're playing Malta Doom fest as well so will see them again even if I miss them at BOA.

Blind Haze sound right up my street, and a friend has been banging on about them, so will check them out.

Well pleased with Anihilated-just wish that they had been booked for Sunday-Saturday is a great day for me and now there are gonna be clashes galore.Balls.
P.S-can someone actually change the announcement to say "Anihilated" and not "Annihilated".Two very different bands (the one we are getting is the thrash band from Ipswich).Cheers.

Just thought, if the Sophie headliners are on late then it's going to be a choice between Trivium & Pritchard vs Dainton. Oh god.

SOPHIE

Alunah - excellent band and really improves my Sunday drastically!

Messiah's Kiss - Not sure if I like them. I think there are too many lashings of glam rock in their music for me to really enjoy them.

Ageless Oblivion - Sound like a decent death metal band. Will probably watch as there is nothing else on the Saturday before Korpiklaani that interests me so far.

Anihilated - Yet another thrash band - yawn... when is this 'thrash revival' going to wear off?

The Izuna Drop - Possibly the worst band I have ever heard. I started to play 'Death of Fun' on Spotify, got literally one second in before pausing it and exclaiming 'WTF is this?' then, mistakenly, I clicked play again and it just got wrse and worse. What is a band like this doing at Bloodstock? Let alone billed above Triaxis who have an established fanbase at this festival...

JAGER STAGE

Winter Storm - Excellent band who I have hoped for a Bloodstock appearance for a while since I missed them at a gig in Derby.

The Parallax Method - Difficult to judge as I could only find a series of 3 second samples of their music, but from that, and their description, and the fact that they are an instrumental band, I think I will give them a watch.

Knock Out Kaine - Bog standard, middle of the road glam/sleaze rock. Boring.

Snowblind - Checked them out already when they got through on M2TM. They're ok, not terrible, but probably not gonna go out of my way to watch them.

Blind Haze - not my thing at all

A couple of things I've noticed after this announcement:

1. As someone has already said, there seems to be 12 bands on the SOPHIE stage each day now. Hopefully this means that the first band will be starting earlier so that Triaxis and Agalloch don't clash

2. There's a slight shuffle in the running order on the updated poster compared with the front page of the website. Namely the positions of Fire Red Empress and Messiah's Kiss. Also, Raging Speedhorn and Armored Saint have been swapped around.

3. Hexis are no longer on the updated poster

4. The formatting of the poster in regards to the mention of Pritchard vs. Dainton suggests to me that they are going to be performing AFTER Delain because they are not in line with the other bands on the other days (Conan, Jettblack and Onslaught are more or less in line with each other).

5. 'Dececration', 'Jetblack', 'Messiahs Kiss' and 'Annihilated' are all mistakes on the poster... don't they have someone to check these things?

Looking at that, there is literally nothing I want to see on Sunday. Might as well go home a day early.
2017 Gigs (here so I remember to go)

17/06 - Guns N' Roses - London
15/07 - Saor - London
10/08 - 13/08 - Bloodstock

Wow Bloodstock don't like me at all on the Saturday. The rest of the days they've filled out quite nicely, but it seems like only death metal or thrash metal is allowed to play Saturday. I literally want to see none of the second stage that day at all. Whereas the Friday, I have no idea how I'm gonna fit everything in. Really wish they'd move something around.

Messiah's Kiss - sound pretty decent, I'll watch if nothing else is on.

Anihilated - more generic thrash. YAY

Ageless Oblivion - more generic death metal. Even more YAY

Alunah - saw them about a week back, they aren't bad, get a bit repetitive. Again, if nothing else is on

Izuna Drop - the song I heard sounded fine, with a little bit of dubsteppy stuff. Sound a bit different, so I'm interest in trying them.

Winterstorm - pretty decent melodic band. Why have they been kicked all the way to the Jager stage, instead of taking up a space on of the generic death metal bands have on Saturday?

Knock Out Kaine - with how shit Saturday looks, I'll probably end up seeing these. They sound OK I guess, I was expecting something far worse.

Snowblind - again, why have one of the best winners of M2tM been relegated to the Jager stage? They aren't brilliant, but it would have been nice to see something melodic on the New Blood stage. Oh well.

Blind Haze - urgh boring, generic rock and roll. Nah, I'll pass.

So some decent filler for me, but they all avoid days I'd actually like something to fill the time. Still waiting for Saturday to get SOMETHING that I can really tolerate, let alone like.
BANDS I LIKE FOR BLOODSTOCK!!!

The Irish M2TM had two winners believe it or not! Simon couldn't decide between Snowblind and Animator so he decided to put them both through. Animator the overall winners (They'll be announced for the New Blood Stage later I presume) but Snowblind impressed Simon so much he's putting them on the Jager stage as well! They're botrh brilliant bands and I'm so stocked Snowblind got through (Animator was a given)

Check out Snowblind everyone!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39wydoxTJiI

Apart from Messiah's Kiss who I think played HF this year I knew none of these bands so had a good old evening on youtube

SOPHIE

Alunah - Zzz

Messiah's Kiss - I like what I heard, not stand out amazing but solid nonetheless.

Ageless Oblivion - Not bad, may catch them if they don't clash with anyone decent on the main.

Anihilated - As is usual going by these announcements I'm the only one happy with the thrash band

The Izuna Drop - Not a fan of this type of music, that said I've heard it done better as well, so it's a no from me.

JAGER STAGE

Winter Storm - Was confused for awhile and thought that Wintersun had suddenly shrunk greatly  Was very good actually, will probably see them.

The Parallax Method - Couldn't find anything but an interview from them with what I assume is their music playing quietly in the background, can't judge them at this point.

Knock Out Kaine - Boring, will avoid.

Snowblind - sound ok, probably won't bother

Blind Haze - Not bad, might poke my head in if nothing else on.

It's filler, but at least it's not crap i'd avoid for the most part.
