So it would appear that Venom were announced for Bloodstock 2016 today.

Thoughts?

Great announcement but sources tell me its headline. Not so chuffed about that. Wasted headline spot. Once again.

Assuming that Spotted Bloodstock page isn't just full of shit.... there may be another announcement tomorrow?

Sounds encouraging to put a few bands out. I feel Blind Guardian are going to be announced at some point with what Wacken has put out. #bloodstock #miniwacken.

It would be nice, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I'm just hoping that Venom get added to Wacken somewhere down the line as I have pretty much made my mind up on doing Wacken next year already and affording two festivals a year is not really that likely ha.

Venom? If that's true then, it guarantees my attendance next year!

I love Venom's easily stuff... 81-85. Technically is ropey as hell but they wrote some great songs. Would prefer to see the original line up (more original members in the Iron & Steel band touing next month!) but this is still an encouraging start.

Reports suggest that Sabaton had a much bigger crowd than Trivium. Hopefully they'll take that on board when they're booking next year's bands!

Sabaton's crowd was much bigger than Trivium's. Nothing against Trivium but that was embarrassingly small for a headliner, probably the smallest headliner crowd I've seen at Bloodstock.

Really hope that Venom aren't headlining as that would be really weak.

Venom is a step in the direction, but I'm not a fan myself, so that's not really something to guarantee my attendance. Hopefully they're not headliners because, as said above, that would be a massive waste of a slot, and I personally don't see them as big enough to do so.

I've done the opposite and decided Bloodstock will be my next years festival depending on the line up. I did Wacken again this year but the price increase has started to make it a little too expensive for me. Venom would be a good special guest slot rather than headliner as it's more of an interest band than a must see band for me. I'd like to think Blind Guardian would be announced as headliner aftrer the Wacken announcement, as we tend to get a good number of bands that play both festivals each year.

Never really a fan of Venom, but saw them at Barcelona RockFest t'other week, and really enjoyed them. Whether I would a second time is a moot point

Blind Guardian would make my Bloodstock comeback, after missing two years , automatic.

My source says they're not headlining...

When they played the wee video package for Emperor and Immortal did they clarify if it was a headline slot in it?

I know the Anthrax one was very clear that they were special guests which makes me think Venom could well be a headliner.

I Could (and most likely) be wrong though.

I would be happy with either a headline or special guest slot.

Both are good for set times, as headline set is long - which is ace, as I love Venom. However ; a SG slot would be fine too - long enough at least (and I can't see them cutting any of the songs I want to hear) + there is the possibility of another big (hopefully good) act to come to on top.

There are few announcements that would draw me in as much as this one.
