BOA room 101

Postby houston4044 » Wed Aug 26, 2015 9:21 am

Saw this thread on another forum and thought it would be interesting to see how it'd work on here.

Basically pick 3 bands that have played BOA (indoor and outdoor) that you do not want to ever play BOA again and why.

Beholder- their not as awful as all that, but surely they have had there full lifetime number of appearances already.

Trivium - I don't hate them as much as some, but it's still a massive wast of a headline slot.

Exodus - controversial this, but I saw them twice and they bored me senseless both times. I like the first record too. Shame.
Welcome to a brave new world/ The future here or haven't you heard?

Raging Speedhorn - No redeeming features. Dire every time I've seen them.
Motörhead - Great band in their day, but their day is past, in a live setting at least.
Hatebreed - I shouldn't need to explain this one.
CH3NO2 -- It's the only way to be sure
You laugh at me because I'm different. I pity you, you're all the same...

Beholder and Hatebreed would be two of my picks...I'll go for Anvil next, embarrassingly bad.

Sacred Mother Tongue - Never EVER book these guys again

Evil Scarecrow - Shitty comedy band, would be a waste of a slot

Unforeseen Prophecy - Really terrible unsigned band, really didn't enjoy their set

Hatebreed - I'd put all hardcore bands in general if I could.

Beholder - they've been good and kept away lately, but would be a waste of a slot if they were booked.

Carcass - I'll put them, but it could easily be Dimmu, Cannibal Corpse, Arch Enemy....Basically any big death metal band (or in Dimmu's case crap black metal) who seem to play here every five seconds but still get high slots at Bloodstock. Waste of a band everyone's seen before.
BANDS I LIKE FOR BLOODSTOCK!!!

Note I only visited between 2006-2011.

Europe - bored me to tears.

Korpiklaani - bored me to tears.

Meshuggah - bored me to tears.

Honourable mentions: Nightwish. Devin Townsend.

Not popular opinions but these bands are not my thing. So essentially if you're watching them 'just because' which I think it was either that or be alone in the campsite on all instances, I chose to watch them. Not fun.

Edited: I totally forgot about those fuckpigs Korpiklaani.

Fear Factory - I liked this band when Demanufacture (when they were as much a Kerrang band as anything) but they are a one-trick pony, which worked pre-2000, but after that their one idea got very stale. Their headline gig was monumentally tedious.

Exodus - Horrible both times.

Immortal - didn't get the fuss, was bored rigid

Pretty much this, core bands just don't do a thing for me.
Devin Townsend - Just dire and uninteresting.
Cradle of Filth - Just can't abide the vocals.

There are loads more I could go for but 3 it has to be.

Raging Speedhorn
Dark Funeral
Voivod

they split up shortly after they played in 2013, so there's not much chance of that
for what it's worth, i really liked them.

Carcass? Here every 5 seconds? They played 2009 and 2014, I think that's about it though. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

They also headlined Damnation twice, and did a large UK tour and are about to do another. A lot of bands that play the UK all the time get long Bloodstock sets, like Sabaton.

Lamb of God - shite, and for me the beginning of the end for headliners.

Fozzy - shite, why oh why

Shining - laughably shite, to the point where if it were these or Fozzy it'd be Fozzy.

Honorable mention to Voivod too.

Blind Guardian - Shit sandwich
Hatebreed - One riff, followed by one breakdown, overlayed with the most monotone vocals I've ever heard. Repeat ad nauseam.
Shining - Probably the worst band I've ever seen play Bloodstock.
