Nightwish for Friday headliner would be OK by me. A well known band who have been pretty good each time I have seen them and IMO should please the old school audience. Certainly fits what the festival used to be about.

Nightwish wouldn't be high on my own personal wishlist but at least they're a band that fits the festival. BFMV on the other hand would not, far too Kerrang!(even when compared to recent headliners).

I'm expecting it to be Nightwish. Right size and we usually get one of those types of band anyway. We've had Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation so I reckon it's their turn.

Not a fan, but wouldn't complain unless the last headliner is another crap Download band.

I don't mind Nightwish, more so with Floor on vocals, Annette was awful. Their Imaginaerum show at Wacken in 2013 was pretty good.

Exactly! I get so much stick for saying things like this. But it's true.

Oh I don't know - some bands have long rivalries that can cause agro, I remember there being a bit of a ruck at a festival between Motorhead and WASP over who was higher/playing longer as they hate each other - IIRC Twisted Sister have been in some as well, getting a support band kicked off a tour so they could have the same set length as Alice Cooper. Must be a middle aged thing....

Anyway, Mastodon are fine with me - only seen them once and they were fantastic. Not arsed about who said what - Brent has a rep for being a drunk who shoots his mouth off, but lots of bands go hot and cold on heavy metal - Lemmy, Bruce Dickinson, members of Paradise Lost, Anathema (although they clearly aren't interested in metal anymore, they still played on metal bills)

I am hoping for the best but expecting the worst about the next announcement.

Twisted Sister or Judas Priest please!

Got a strong feeling that it's a repeat booking; nowhere near as much hype as the Mastodon announcement!

Reading and Leeds, Slam Dunk, Download, Sonisphere, Hit the Deck... basically all the festivals that are quite far removed from the BOA crowd

So if I'm reading that right, BOA are announcing it and Metal Hammer are going to hype it and explain why it's the most glorious thing ever.... so it's going to be Parkway Drive or some crap...

This was my worry when Wacken announced both BFMV and Parkway drive.

The Friday announcement will be Slayer, the remaining one will be Nightwish.
