2016 Booze + prices

Postby GTFCMike » Tue Jul 26, 2016 4:34 pm

Sorry, I'm sure it's probably been mentioned elsewhere, but I haven't got long. How much wonga per pint this year and what are we being served up?

Can't wait to arrive on the hallowed turf. Roll on BOA2016!
Come on Bloodstock. You know you want to. Hypocrisy. Sort it, Bloodstock! ;)

I've seen nothing official but it'll be Hobgoblin & "Bloodstock Ale", Carling & some cider (was it Somerby's last year?). Around £4.20/pint. Apparently they had Piledriver in what's now Lemmy's Bar for a little time last year but won't see that back as it's no longer brewed. Could see Hobgoblin Gold make an appearance too.

Actually it'll probably be Carling cider.

I hope they get rid of that stupid 'one-queue-for-real-ale-another-for-the rest' thing they had last year - and that the beers they have on are actually labelled. The staff were clueless.

Sounds fun! I miss out by only getting my beer from either the Wychwood stall (because that way they pour it fresh rather than leaving it on a table for half an hour) or the Serpent's Lair bar. Though I will be checking out the new Lemmy's Bar at least once, gotta see what Paul Gregory's created for it.

They said on a recent livestream that they'll have a selection of 20 for the normal bar and 120 for the VIP. They promised a range of cider, as well as ale and beer.

Price wise they said around £4.20 IIRC.

It was because they had delivered the ale and the clips, but they didn't have the information of which barrel was what beer. So it was guesswork until someone turned up with the paperwork.

They were pouring it fresh last year in The Arms. Although you had to go to the end of the bar to get the real ale and go to the middle for everything else, as they were treating the real ale as a separate entity. More like a mini Beer Festival.

They'd better have some good IPAs in the VIP bar. Last year's selection was underwhelming.

VIP in general is hit and miss as it's just what they have on at the time so can often be a bunch of similar things. Fortunately if you like a wide range of ale you'll be catered for.

Really 20 ales in the normal bar? I expect they'll only have a couple on at a time but worth looking out for!

I can't remember if it was 20 ales or mix of ales/cider/etc with 20 total on offer.

There'll only be one cider and it'll be shit. Calling it now.

We ended up ordering the stuff from the red barrel, as it was the only one that stood out, and it was really nice! But once that barrel was gone, we had no idea how to order it again... :(

It was bothering me, so I went back and found where they were talking about it (can you tell I'm bored at work today?) and they said about 40 ales and ciders in the main bar.
