Lost Society is a good addition, enjoyed them at HRH. Certainly won't be watching Kvelertak after seeing them on the Mastodon tour. Musically they were good but the vocalist was absolutely obnoxious. Couldn't tell whether he was smacked off his tits, or if he's just a lunatic. Will be avoiding them until they get a different singer either way

Epica, The Beaches, The Inspector Cluzo, Palisades, Blurred Vision and Elvana.

Line up is complete apprantly. Epica are a good announcement and Elvana seem like a good novelty sing song.

Depending on set times I'm possibly tempted by a Saturday day ticket for the first time in years. That main stage up to Trivium plus a few on the 4th stage.

The line-up is solid this year. The headliners are all decent and in terms of the rest of the line-up I'd be interested in seeing the following bands:

Friday:
Slash
Whitesnake
Last In Line
Opeth
Delain
Sumo Cyco
At The Gates

Saturday:
Alien Weaponry
Halestorm
Epica

Sunday:
Amon Amarth
Dream Theater
Anthrax
Municipal Waste

However, despite all these good bands I don't want to go as it's expensive, a pain in the arse to get to, far too big, awful when it's wet and I've used up all my annual leave. It's also not worth all that money for short sets from Epica, Delain and Amon Amarth either, plus I'm seeing Halestorm later in the year too. I reckon Dream Theater, Amon Amarth and Delain will announce UK shows for late this year or early next year at the same time as Download anyway.

It is frustrating that Download have booked Epica and BOA haven't for about ten years or whatever. Something to fix for next year.

^ I would like to see Slayer, Alcest and Amon Amarth, but not enough to go for the full day when my budget is stretched enough by Brutal Assault.

If I do go for the Friday and provided the stage times are the same as last year, then my day would be:

Last in Line - Skid Row - Blackberry Smoke - Clutch/Deadland Ritual - Whitesnake - Slash - Rob Zombie

Not bad really, am gonna wait for stage times and weather forecast before I make my decision though.

Looking into the logistics of it, it's £109 for a day ticket and car park pass alone :o Add in fuel and food etc that's the best part of £150 for 1 day :eyes: I was expecting something closer to £110 all in, call it naivety I guess.

Even the Friday which is shorter is still the same price as the other two days :?

Saturday's the weak day for me, but there's plenty across the weekend i'm wanting to see. Sunday looks great, but it's probably going to be a massive clash-fest.

Friday:
Last in Line
Delain
Opeth
Slash
Ne Obliviscaris
+Tesla, Skid Row, Clutch, Rob Zombie

Saturday:
Power Trip
Epica
Trivium
Slipknot
+Animals as Leaders, Love Bites

Sunday:
Anthrax
Lamb of God
Alcest
Dream Theater
Slayer
Tool
Municipal Waste
+Godsmack, Amon Amarth

Even checked out of curiosity, their day tickets are £20 more than R&L (I know it's a different genre but it's similar size), wow.

Friday:
Blackberry Smoke
Delain/Clutch
Lost Society/Whitesnake
Reel Big Fish
Me First....
At The Gates

Saturday:
Royal Republic
Power Trip
Elvana
Behemoth
The Hu/Skindred
Trivium
Batshuka
Carcass

Sunday:
Aaron Buchanan
Amon Amarth
Anthrax
Alcest
Fever 333
Slayer
Municipal Waste

It's good, but not quite worth the prices they're asking for.

Download's capacity is about 20,000 greater than Reading Festival's. I reckon renting the racetrack area costs a bit more than the farmland used at Reading Festival, even if it is in the south.

True, but then again Reading and Leeds has 2 sites it has to rent (though also has 2 sites to draw in more punters).

I was just surprised that Download was not only more expensive but not even by a small margin :o

I'm actually quite looking forward to the Download Festival weekend - not because I am going, but because there are likely to be a few tours announced for later this year or early next year.

Expecting an Amon Amarth tour to be announced at Download for Nov/Dec.

They’ve just announced 2 Czech dates after their summer date at metal fest so will be part of a big Euro tour for sure.

I've been to Download for 6 of the last 8 years. But there's just not enough for me this year, so I'm giving it a miss.
