Sabaton 2020

Postby Powerslave » Fri Jun 28, 2019 8:09 am

Just one UK show, 8th of February at Wembley Arena. Support from Amaranthe and Apocalyptica.

Would probably go to this, but I'm already seeing Serenity that night.

Bloody hell. Wembley Arena for Sabaton. That's brave.

I'm seeing Delain in Bristol that night so won't be able to make it. I'd rather see their set at Bloodstock before committing to seeing them again as I'm not a huge fan.

Gutted that this is the same day as Serenity/Rage which I've already booked :(

It is brave, particularly with such underwhelming support acts

Won't be going anyway, single shows in London can fuck off.

Is it really? They packed out Brixton Academy last time they played London in Jan 17, and they've only got bigger since then, this is the next logical step for them. Plus 8 months to sell the tickets.

Think you're underestimating their popularity a bit, headlining Bloodstock and just headlined Hellfest (albeit filling in for Manowar).

No that is a proper pisser.

Serenity are stunning and wipe the floor with Sabaton, but I get the impression this gig might be a bit dead as a result of the Sabaton gig, and the Sabaton gig might be more fun as a result :|

Ah crap, Sabaton used to be really good for actually touring rather than doing the play London and fuck off back to Europe approach.

This is what happens when you reach the big time. All the fame goes to your head. :P

To be fair, France and Poland are only getting one show too, and Sweden only gets two. The only country getting any significant number of shows is Germany (six). It's only a one month tour (so far) which might suggest they're heading back to North America, or other parts of the world, in Spring before returning to Europe later in the year.

Well it is on a Saturday at least, which will silence some of the anti-London crowd.

There show at the weekend was a lot more theatrical and epic than before, so it fits with the arena venue.

This or Serenity is the issue....

I guess I'll hold fire until I hear the new Sabaton album, Bismark was awesome but it's not on the album, Fields Of Verdon and Red Baron sound ok but a bit Sabaton by numbers.

I think it will be an amazing show, but given that I will have seen them at Bloodstock a few months previously and Serenity are so good live, I'll be going to their (probably quite quiet) gig instead.

To be fair when I went down to the Underworld for the Serenity/Visions of Atlantis gig last February it wasn't that full then either.

It was half full maybe, and if that is what they'd normally get, that'll be impacted even further by this gig going on at the same time. I guess when Sabaton get as huge as they are, small bands playing the underworld at the same time aren't really a concern to them.
