After some of the names flying around here I'm just hoping for a non controversial, established metal band - of the sort that would be on the metal archives. Not a band that have been around less than a decade, (so Ghost are on the archives but had only 3 albums, and weren't all that heavy metal so ended up a controversial booking)considering we have Gojira already, and not a band that would be more suited to Download than the "traditional" bloodstock kind. Judas Priest, Manowar or Emperor would be ideal for me, but there are plenty other established metal bands out there which could headline. If that means bumping up another Amon Amarth type band then so be it.

Ffdp are the only band who could be considered as a headliner out of the list u gave. The rest are no way big enough sep and Exodus are more middle of the line up. Body count. Possible 3rd from top. The slot Testament had this year.

If you read what I wrote correctly, you would notice that Five Finger Death would be the headliner on the Friday, the other bands would be below them.

Well considering the thread is about the 3rd potential headliner and you listed bands
i thought u were saying one of them could headline.

So are people more optimistic or more pessimistic about who might get announced then?

Pessimistic as there is only one headliner to go and the first two announced do nothing for me at all.

Probably a stupid question...... Is Marilyn Manson too big for Bloodstock?
That was a great time, the summer of '71 - I can't remember it, but I'll never forget it!

FFDP?  Um no...... I'd rather a Budget ass Pantera not even attempt to headline BOA.

At the very top end of the budget (I'd guess) but I reckon he could do it. However, he still has a tour coming up, and its not quite sold out yet, so I doubt its him being announced.
Welcome to a brave new world/ The future here or haven't you heard?

Pessimistic. The fact I like Nightwish makes 2 years in a row where I've had a mainstage headliner I like after liking none of them 2013-2015, I'm not going to get greedy and expect 2 of them to be good.

Plenty. But they have to be good, and that's been a problem with mainstage headliners recently.

Yeah, the problem is that there are plenty of bands who are touring around BOA, who would be great bookings but for some reason they seem to get overlooked. Meanwhile bands get announced who nobody would have requested.

The booking lately seems to be based on bands the organisers like, with a splattering of other bands to appease the masses. You only have to look at the Instagram and Facebook pages to see what bands from this year's event got the most coverage.

I think the rule is that if a band has any sort of broad popularity, they're by default terrible and unworthy of playing Bloodstock

Yeah, proper metal bands, plenty of those have broad popularity. Not flavour of the month hard rock bands or those with tenuous links to metal who would be more suited to a rock than a metal festival.
